90 percent of registered voters say the country is seriously off on the wrong track

McCain is on the wrong train and the wrong track.

At 23 percent, Bush's job approval rating has fallen below Nixon's lowest

McCain is trying to use the Bush/Rove playbook, but its not the same game this time.

Obama holds his largest lead yet, a remarkable 30-point margin, in better understanding the economic problems Americans are having, 58-28 percent. He leads McCain by about as much, 59-31 percent, in trust to help the middle class, and by 11 points on taxes, two prime points of contention in the last presidential debate.

We're leading on TAXES! McCain is screwed! God Bless America!

So after seeing this margins, it often makes me wonder why there isn't a larger margin that will vote for BO, proves there's bigots in America and even that is strange, knowing our diversity.

Even if they were both, white, or both black, and both were nearly the same age, I'd still vote for the one that had the best plan for middle America.

Americans are being duped by a pretty face. Palin and her husband (an obsessed man) will, if in office, be the team. You give your vote to McCain, it's really for TODD! That party should be named the Make Corporations Richer (MCR).

I'm sick of Lou Dobbs and others trying to smear BO on acorn too! BO doesn't tell people to fill out forms and commit fraud, those are people that are living in fear and they will be caught. BO was connected to Acorn in the primary, but NOT in the general, so this is just another malicious lie coming from the MCR lying machine. McCain's playing with fire, and Palin is the fuel (oil in her blood) that flames it.

10% who think we're on the right track?

Who are the 23% that still approve douchebag Bush?

WHO CARES! THEY ARE GOING TO LOSE IN A LANDSLIDE!

Sorry Letitrip, you Alaskans are going to have to get rid of your governor by impeaching her. She ain't goin' to be the VP. No way. No how.

Horse...Cart

It does look very good but I've underestimated the stupidity of the American electorate before, I'll not make that mistake again. I'm working the phones.

I finally got that lte published in Mason County News:
Changing Directions

In 1980, Ronald Reagan asked:

Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?

Americans answered by electing Reagan by a wide margin over Jimmy Carter.

But 28 years later, the laissez fair economic policies of de-regulation and tax cutting of conservative Republicans have now shown that they were much more successful as campaign promises (getting them elected and re-elected) than they were as governing principals and policies. We now are 10 trillion in debt and our Republican President tells us that our financial institutions require government bailouts to the tune of $700 billion.

John McCain started his presidential campaign claiming to be a foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution. His stump speeches never mention Reagan anymore. Now he claims to be the next Teddy Roosevelt. This is a very misleading! Historians say that Teddy was a trustbuster and practically invented the inheritance tax, whereas McCain loves corporations so much he still wants to cut their taxes more and he certainly is against any inheritance tax.

McCain pretended to suspend his campaign to get Congress to pass bailout legislation to avoid a financial crisis of biblical proportions. But instead of leading, he couldn't even get House Republicans to quit playing chicken with the stock market. On the morning before the rescue legislation initially failed in the U.S. House of Representatives, McCain was bragging about how his leadership had made the difference. Maybe he was thinking MISSION ACCOMPLISHED a little prematurely.

And Republicans still want to spend $10 billion every month in Iraq. We can't afford it anymore. When Democrats try to cut off this irresponsible spending, they are accused of not supporting the troops and wanting to 'lose' a war. General Petreus has already stated publicly that there is no VICTORY to be achieved in Iraq. Nothing in heaven or on earth justifies a continuation of spending such obscene amounts on an occupation when Iraqis are swimming in oil profits. America is going through one of the worst financial crisis in its history and many of our citizens have been suffering financially long before there was a crisis on Wall Street.

Democrats do not have all of the answers to the downhill slide that the U.S. is on. But there is one thing for certain; Democrats are not the ones proposing that we continue the same failed policies that have created such a mess. It is time for something different. We are not better off than we were 8 years ago.

And by coincidence or fate, we have an election right upon us at the same time we are on the precipice, staring into the abyss. We have a chance to change direction.

Fantastic letter Steve...Can't say enough positive things about it. I'm glad they published you finally.

My latest draft thus far(I still have 70 words at my disposal, I'm still working on it), anyway, as follows...

Using history as a guide, the next issue of the PCH will cut off all political letters for a good reason while simultaneously endorsing McCain for President. I could be wrong but as I said, I'm using history as a guide.

I'm a proud liberal and no matter how hard the GOP tries to paint me with a broad brush as an unpatriotic tree hugging terrorist sympathizer, I know the truth. I take personal responsibility, pay my taxes, work hard and served honorably in the military. I agree with George Washington when he said, “As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality. “

As Reagan famously asked America it's time to ask yourself if America is better off now than it was 8 years ago? Any serious person who carries an ounce of objectivity would say resoundingly, No! Then you must ask yourself who is going to carry on Bush's arrogant policies of America's demise. Make no mistake, if McCain is elected, you will have 4 more years of Bush policy that has been so destructive to our freedoms, reputation, economy, military, infrastructure, constitution, environment, education and worst of all our Department of Justice.

p.s. The "PCH" in the letter equals, "Pierce County Herald"...If interested, here is the Link
