Time to pull all troops out Mr. Bush. The UN mandate allowing US presence runs out on December 31, 2008.

The is no Status of Forces Agreement that will allow US troops to legally remain there. Condi say an agreement is close. But the Iraqi Parliament has insisted on vetting any agreement and you know
they can't possibly approve it by year end, especially when there is no agreement yet to approve. My guess is that the US Congress will want to approve it if the Iraqi Parliament gets to. And if you force the Iraqis to accept an agreement on your terms...how can you say they are anything but a puppet government? How does that square with them being a sovereign democracy? No, Mr. President, the jig is up. You gambled and lost. Game over.

And what possible motivation do you have to direct Condi for asking the Iraqis to let us stay longer? They are the ones arguing for us to leave.

What National Security reason are you going to make up now? No WMDs. No Sadam. Surge has worked...LOL. You can't say its for the oil because we would have enough of our own if we just drilled deeper and faster and longer especially now that the polar ice caps are melting and there must be oil there too right?

And John McCain, how are you going to spin this for your campaign? You said that we couldn't leave unless Iraq was a stable democracy that was an ally in the war on terror. And the troops can't be proud to come home if they didn't win. Since Iraq seems to be much friendlier with Iran than with Israel, I think you are dreaming the impossible dream.

So did the US win the War in Iraq?

My opinion is that when you send US troops on missions that were never in our national interest, the only way you win is by terminating that mission. Kind of like VietNam.

OK Arius, give me your best shot. I know not everything above is totally accurate...but close enough.

That's the point. This is a joke. What is there to negotiate? They want us to leave and we are negotiating to stay! Last I recall the American people want US troops to leave. Bush and McCain envision Permanent Bases. So we can have our military be the policemen of the middle east.

Remember McCain thinks jihadist are an existential threat to us. That means he thinks if we don't have bases in Iraq forever, we wil all be on our kness on prayer rugs facing Mecca.

Jihadists are an existential threat to us if they get their hands on nuclear weapons. For whatever reasons, there are hundreds of millions if not billions of people who would not care the least little bit if we were crippled or destroyed tomorrow.

They already have them (Iran).

I'll bet you believe in suitcase nuclear bombs too. Something this government scares us about, like they did communism.

Timothy McVee is an existential threat if he gets hold of nuclear bombs. Barack has led the charge against proliferation. McCain has probably pissed Russia off enough to hand them directly to Bin Laden.

What does that have to do with Iraq and this post!

Time is running out according to new last few weeks. Maliki is getting anxious for them to leave and said he's ready to close the door to negotiating we withdraw.

First part of title, "The Iraq War" is inaccurate, just because GWB said Mission Accomplished, doesn't make it so. We occupied. This isn't a legal war. This was a regime change because Bush pushes democracy building. To bad people don't read time lines.

Secondly, what would we win?

Thirdly, just because bush said Mission Accomplished, doesn't make it so.

This title I imagine would be disturbing to our troops.

The title is prescient, not factual. The troops, (including my nephew Sargeant Ryan Scott Wilson who has already completed 4 tours in Iraq) have no interest in politics....only performing their mission with outstanding valor. They would be the first to applaud a mission that they could believe in. Like killing those who actually attacked us on 9/11. Most Matrines I know are tired of Iraq and want to get Bin Laden in Pakistan.
