forget the special interest groups

Alright, so everyone and their mother is talking about remembering 9-11 today, and that's cool because we absolutely should remember it. But we should also discuss the terrorist attacks and their ramifications. We should ask questions about why and how this happened. We should know what went wrong, not to point fingers and assign blame, but to acknowledge our failures and fix them in the future. To truly honor the heroes and victims of September 11th, we must be more active in our own national future. We must educate ourselves in the history of the world (which does in fact extend beyond North America and Europe) and we must involve ourselves in the political process.
And there's an easy way to do it. Every adult American has an opportunity to express their concerns, their opinions and their beliefs this November through the simple act of voting. And here's the best part - no special interest group or conglomerate of big businesses and dirty politicians can force your choice. You have the power to decide who runs this country. So you can quit bitching about dirty money and greasy palms because the information on these candidates is out there for your consumption. This is your decision to make and America is your nation to improve or ignore.
