I've Changed My Mind

I am not a registered Democrat, but when I vote, I vote Democratic. I evaluate the candidates by their merit and not their party affiliation.

I thought this year I would be an activist and work to get the vote out and devote myself to the Party Building effort. But visiting this blog site has changed my mind.

My intent to participate was ill considered. I have led a sheltered life as far as politics are concerned. I was shocked by the personal insults traded on this blog. And so to prevent myself from becoming more disillusioned than I am, I will stop visiting this site. I am disolving my group, Avenues For Obama (don't tell me how much this pleases you, I know).

I am saddened by my own change of heart and the dialogue exchanged here. I want no part of this bitter, angry exchange.

I apologize to those who wanted to join Avenues for Obama. I trust you will find a way to work on his campaign.

I've felt that way too...

but soon discovered who the real Democrats were. It's easier when you can separate the wheat from the chaff. It will be better in a week or two. Thanks for your support!

Thanks for the empathy. I probably won't be back to this site. There are other opportunities for participating and doing my part. I'm only reading your post because I am still here for a little while, searching out references I can use for my personal education in the real world of politics. Not what I thought it was at all.

Had to get ready to move hotels. There are some great postings here for Hillary and Obama. Check back in a few weeks. Keep up your spirit, it will assist you in winning over voters.

both of you are short lived

I see that both of you have only been on the site for less than two weeks.

True Demorats stick it out to the end and go with the candidate who has the most delegates.

Those are our rules and Obama will win with most of the delegates and most of the super delegates.

Yes. I almost quit, but I found another very positive forum. I'll be campaigning and feel cheerful while I do it.

I just don't belong in the middle of a fight like this.

Don't get so discouraged!
By Concerned Democrat May 19th 2008 at 10:24 am EDT
Hey there! I just wanted to let you know that I understand completely how you feel. I am new to this site also, and also excited for the first time about an election! This is discouraging and frustrating for people that believe so deeply about what they are standing up for. When you read the postings, it sounds like a bunch of people whining because they don't get their way! Don't hold this against the cadidates though! If you notice, they have laid low from the bickering! Without groups such as yours, the word does not get spread and all the Party will hear is the whining and complaining coming from these babies in the background. Don't give up. Just because we aren't on here, ranting and crying, doesn't mean that Obama has any less support.
