I have not always been a Democrat. I registered as a Republican when I turned 18 and was eligible to vote. I was a Republican until a few years ago when I got fed up with Bush and the Republican Party's way of doing things. They don't have a clue how to respond when the economic winds change and are faced with a challenge. This happened this year, and back in 1992 with Clinton v. Bush, Sr. I don't like Bush, Jr. for the war(s) we are currently in. I did not vote for Obama, but I do believe in what the Democratic Party stands for.

You are making a trip many of us have made. At the age of 18 when we think we know everything that matters we get the right to vote so being good Americans we want to exercise our right so we latch on to the one or two issues that are important to us or so we think. As we age the issues get bigger and more important and wider raging. I remember when I was turning 18 I asked my dad how I new if I was a Dem or a Rep, He said Look at Your Hands, If they a ruff and beat up then most likely your a Democrat, If you care how other people are doing, Your probably a Dem. Being only 18 my hands did not look to bad but I looked at my dads hands and what I saw made me sad. His hands where cut, cracked and very ruff. I have been a Democrat from that day on. Hope you stay around a while, It not a bad party.
