A Party Of Losers
You know, I don't watch the news anymore. I read the newspaper online and from my front porch. Hell, I even read foreign press because nowadays in the day of sensationalized "news", the only way to find objective press on your country is to read the news from another country.
The reason I bring that up is because of something that I finally noticed, that from the get-go, Hillary Clinton was meant to lose the nomination. She was meant to lose the nomination because the media, which is mostly run by conservative Republican corporations and their brothels, doesn't want her to win. And, since the media has such power over our little American minds ( i.e. Britney Spears' mental health more important than our returning soldiers' mental health), we are lead to believe that Hillary Clinton will make us lose the White House. The media made up its mind and we are too lazy of a political culture to have the freedom to make our own individual minds up. After all, wasn't after Oprah announced her support for Obama did millions of people offer financial and physical support?
At least with Gore and Kerry there was the expectation that they could win. With Senator Clinton, there isn't even the expectation. That those who support her are backing a loser and that they are just as pitiful as their candidate. Well, I've lived through two other presidential elections where my candidate lost, and oddly, that makes me proud. Why does that make me proud?
Because let's face it, the Democratic Party is a party of losers. The winners are those living the American dream in their white-only country clubs because they give blow-jobs to the corporation on a daily basis. But, hey, they are only 1% of America, and in the Constitution it does state that the majority does rule, right? Well, how can we, the supposed "losers" not rule? By having the media, which is owned by these corporate whores and their pimps, feed us biased information and not give us the facts straight up. You wouldn't go to a bar, order a tequila shot, and get the shot watered down passing as a regular would you? No. The bartender would have to think that you are so stupid that you wouldn't notice. Consider this metaphor in regards to the media.
I believe in democracy. I believe that the majority does rule, but I also believe in the power of grassroots movements that work for change. I get emails from Robert Greenwald of BraveNewFilms, who seems to be the only video media outlet that does what is or used to be called American journalism does nowadays. Give or take, it is an independent media outlet, as is the Huffington Post, but still, shouldn't these resources be supported more? Imagine. Everyone turning off their TV just to go online and read the Huffington Post. Imagine what that would do to those who depend on ratings so much that their show still survives because of them. Who wouldn't want to bring Bill O'Reilly down a few notches? But I digress.
The point of this post is not to down the Democratic Party and this current election process.
Being a party of losers isn't exactly a bad thing. While the Republican Party represents the rich 1% of America, which is a minority, the Democratic Party represents the other 99%. We represent the poor, working-class, middle-class. We represent the woman, the African-American, the immigrant, the gay person, the child. No one else will, right? We represent the worker who is just trying to make enough so her/his kids can go to school and have three meals a day. We represent the injured and sick who can't easily get the help they need because they do not qualify for the health care plan they so readily deserve. We represent those who are trying to sell their house so they could live in a better, more fitting place for them and their families even though the housing market is shot right now. We may be losers, according to the rich 1% of America, but losers have the same if not more influence over this country than they think we do. We just need to wake up and realize it.
Getting back to this election, many people have asked me, why are you still supporting Hillary? Don't you know she's going to lose? Usually I brush it off, but today I rebut: how do you know she is going to lose? Just because she and Obama are neck-and-neck in the superdelegate thermometer? There is still a chance she could get enough. Obama looks like the winner, but because people are saying no to status quo and yelling " YES WE CAN! YES WE WILL!" Why is there still a chance, because there is still the audacity of hope. The fact that we can raise ourselves up from our current state and rise above our circumstances if we come together, put the issues over partisan bickering, and restore America to what it truly deserves to be in ( The Audacity Of Hope, Obama, 2006).
We've lost two presidential elections, and if we maintain the mentality that one of our candidates will lose, what hope do we have of finally winning? I still support Al Gore and John Kerry even though they lost in 2000 and 2004. Will you support a fellow party member even though he/she might lose? It isn't hard to do. It's an important character aspect of our party, it what keeps me in this party. I have no where else to go but here. Both Clinton and Obama have the potential to win the nomination and the election. And, honestly, I am at the point where I don't care who gets the nomination, I'm voting Democrat anyways. I just care that rather than talking about the issues, our candidates are bickering about personal matters, when they SHOULD be talking about the issues.
Thank you for your time.

Lets win big in 2008! No matter who the nominee is!
