Check out the body language on the black man behind Obama at second- 45 of this video. How do you think he felt about the "That One" comment. The video isn't as clear as the original; in that you could see facial expression as well.

McCain is a bitter, angry old man. McCain scares me.

Very confused too. Obama clearly had the good answers and got back on-point at the end of every answer to summarize his thoughts and further clarify the facts.

Personally, I found the remark to be extremely elitist. It completely objectified Obama. Not only was he not referred to by name such as "Senator Obama" "Barack" or even with the pronoun "he".

"that one" as if Obama is some inhuman object.

Nice try McCain, but you can save your grandpa snobbery for another life.

My Reaction

When I heard him say that, I screamed out loud. I simply could not believe he had turned Sen. Obama into an object. As a person of color, that really resonated with me because it was years before we were deemed human being by the United States government and in one feel swoop McCain was ready to take that away.

I realize now that "That One" is a term used by many, I simply had never heard it used before. But it is meant to belittle so I am told.

McCain speaks down to people and turns his back on those that he deems not his equal. Did you notice how he turned his back on the young black girl asking a question about energy and he said to the young black man, "you probably have never heard of Freddie and Fannie before this crisis", therefore assuming that he was ill informed. News flash Sen. McCain, if you have ever attended college on a student loan, you have heard about Freddie, Fannie and Sallie. Ugh!
