Whitman was also mentioned by McCain as a possible Secretary of the Treasury during the second of three United States presidential election debates in 2008.[19]
Whitman was a supporter of former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney's presidential campaign [12][13] in 2008 and was on his "National Finance Team".[14] She was also listed as Finance co-chair of Romney's campaign exploratory committee. [15] After Romney stepped out of the race, Whitman joined John McCain's presidential campaign as a national co-chair. [16]
She has political ambitions of her own and is considering a run for Governor of California in the 2010 election.[17] Whitman was also named as a dark horse candidate for the Vice Presidential slot in McCain's 2008 presidential bid.[18]
At the Republican National Convention (2008), Whitman gave a speech about what presumptive presidential nominee McCain would do in his first one hundred days in office if elected President of the United States. Read More »
Who is crazy?
Comments on previous posts have stooped to the politics of personal destruction, ad hominem attacks, and calling people "crazy."
Did you know that shortly after Frank filed with the FEC there was a staff post, since deleted, on Daily Kos, asking if Kos should support Frank instead of Obama? So the Kos staff was taking him seriously.
Tell me, who is crazy?
Frank Lynch is creating a new university http://www.fluni.com to train teachers of science, math, medicine and engineering to help treat our national shortage of science teachers and had the audacity to name the university after his father, who died at home in his arms.
Obviously Lynch is crazy, a loon, an egomanic and should be chased out of town. It goes against the principles of the Democratic Party to advance education and to deal with the teacher shortage. Drive Lynch away from posting, he is dangerous. And he is taking on the monumental, back breaking tsask of creating a non-profit, charitable university, and serving without compensation? What a jerk!
Frank Lynch is creating a public charity devoted to abused children and abused women and to fighting poverty inside of America as opposed to Clinton's foundation which is mostly outside the USA. http://franklynchfoundation.org also named after his deceased father.
Lynch is insane, What a narcissist. Anybody who wants to fight poverty inside America is a Nazi. Shout him down, ban him, ridicule him. And he wants to help abused children and save them from the broken foster care system? He can't possible be a true Democrat.
Lynch is writing books and creating a publishing company to raise money for his charities to help education and fight poverty in America. Criminal! UnAmerican. Anti-Democrat. No Democrat Presidential candidate ever wrote a book? Boo! Go away Frank. It is illegal to write a book.
Frank filed to run for president even though he knew the Democratic Party insiders would not let him on the ballots. Why? As a means of getting the other Presidential candidates to copy the ideas he posted on http://www.franklynch.org and use them in their previously vacant websites previously filled with only empty rhetoric from Jimmy Carter's 1976 campaign, and we know Carter's legacy.
Gee Frank, you reminded Hillary and goaded Barack into helping college students and into adopting Universal Healthcare. Frank, you really are a tin hat wacko loon. Everybody knows that Hillary and Barack adopted universal healthcare AFTER you publicized it and nagged the Chairpersons of all 50 state party organizations about it. What a maroone.
And by doing so, Frank Lynch changed America. What a terrible person! Pushing for universal healthcare and helping college students. Lock him in jail.
And Frank Lynch filed to run for President without ever serving as a legislator.
Now this is a big one. Frank Lynch is going to propose a Constitutional Amenment to forbid anyone who has ever been a US Senator or Representative, or ever graduated from law school, from running for President.
No lawyer ever SUCCESSFULLY managed anything of substance in the entire history of America. No many of you will cite lawyers who were the head of all sorts of things. Yes, ABraham Lincoln, my geatest personal hero, was a lawyer, but he never went to law school. Ha! Try to focus. No lawyer evere SUCCESSFULLY managed anything of substance.
Chew on that! First it is a really big crime how so many Senators do nothing about carrying out their duties to the taxpayers for two whole years while they abandon the Senate to run for President.
Second, the Presidency is EXECUTIVE. Senators and Representatives do nothing but work to get re-elected and collect campaign donations by holding hearing after hearing after hearing after hearing to extort contributions from the victims of their hearings.
Third, have you every watched CSPAN? None of those bums should ever be allowed to be President.
Frank Lynch has expert experience in the areas that determine America's future: science, national security, finance/economics, and running a business. See http://www.franklynch.name
In fact, compared to the irrelevant experience of all the other candidates, Lynch is OVERQUALIFIED
Frank Lynch at age 18 dropped out of college because he thought his professors were stupid. At age 19 he was back as a National Science Foundation researcher studying the effects of early experience on adult biochemical and hormonal reactions to stress.
Since stress is involved in weapons systems, he was recruited as a national security consultant, first on selection of advanced weapons systems, then intellegence, and he co-authored a study that predicted the current MidEast situation, in detail, with 100 percent accuracy, 40 years ago! Current candidates don't even understand the MidEast today, let alone see the future.
He then spent 10 years as a Corporate Finance Officer on Wall Street, followed by creating a new business from scratch, building it up into a publicly traded company, and selling it to a larger company.
In contrast, both Obama and McCain state they do not understand business, finance or the economy.
No other Presidential candidate has these comprehensive, totally relevant, qualifications to deal with the problems facing America today.
Maybe Howard Dean erred by keeping Frank Lynch off the primary ballots? Would it not be interesting if the voters had had the chance to debate this?
We live in America and it's a beautiful thing. We have a Constitution that gives us the right to petition our government. The First Amendment which is commonly referred to and misunderstood by many , is one of the most sacred rights of the American people.
THE FIRST AMENDMENT:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The online version of today's story includes links to the lists of approved books. Unsurprisingly perhaps, Unitarian Universalism is not one of the "20 religions or religious categories" that prison chapel libraries may contain books about. In other words, no book explicitly about Unitarian Universalism is currently allowed on federal prison bookshelves.

**** REFLECTION OF THE WEEK:
IT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE COURT SYSTEM TO DISPENSE JUSTICE. The role of the Prosecutor is to bring people to court to allow the court to dispense justice. The role of the Sheriff is to hold people for court. And when sentenced to impose the justice the court ordered. The Sheriffs or the Prosecutors role is not to dispense justice. Some of us remember the perp walks of Anthony and Pritcher. I am not defending either one but only question why were they taken into district court in shackles with the press notifed ahead of time and the Sheriff and Prosecutor both present. The average person will say great. But in each case private attorney's were negotiating the entry into court. The Sheriff and Prosecutor decided to handle the high profile case differently. Here Mengesha has a private attorney negotiating his return to district court. He was arrested at the airport. Why? If he is given a humiliating perp walk and the yells of support fade away ask why? Were the Prosecutor and Sheriff disposing justice unique to the situation ? Or was it called for?-trb]
I AM NOT DEFENDING MENGESHA IN ANY WAY, ONLY QUESTIONING THE PROCESS. ****

In the establishment of Fascist governments, first comes the control of the maintstream media and then the control of the colleges and universities.
Americans should keep watch over these incidents and protest to many when they happen if we hope to stem the tide and prevent the total shutdown of truth and dissent in our nation.
This morning, I came across another shocking example of a voice being silenced. Apparently it is not acceptable to criticize nations who follow military solutions and suppressions of other human beings as peace solutions.

Internet Thought Control Bill Under Fire
House Committee Dismisses Criticisms of
Internet Thought Control Bill - H.R. 1995
By Michael Collins
Washington, D.C.
Part 2 (Part 1)
On Monday, Dec. 17, the House Committee on Homeland Security posted this document in response to the many criticisms of House Resolution 1955, The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007. Part 1 of this series examined the dangers that this bill posed to citizens and political groups using the Internet.
Based on the bill contents and the witnesses called to elaborate on the supposed problem of "homegrown terrorism," it appears that House bill and the Senate look alike (S.1959) pose a significant threat to political expression and free speech, particularly on the Internet (see Thought Control on the Internet and this collection for more detail).

It's amazing that people would throw away a huge voting bloc (the NRA) just so that they could intentionally attack a fundamental right granted to us in our constitution by the True Americans. It's amazing that after tragedies like VA Tech people were somehow drawing the conclusion that gun control laws were necessary despite the fact that the campus had a no-gun-on-campus policy which perfectly emulates a microcosm of a nation in which guns are banned. The no-gun policy didn't deter the gunman, and gun-control wouldn't deter other murderers and criminals in the larger world. Read More »
Author's Note: DIRTY WORDS AHEAD...
The Bush Administration has, as we all know, sought to expand the power of Government and alter the relationship between the Branches in fundamental ways. Those seeking examples need look no further than the reassessment of Habeas Corpus represented in the Military Commissions Act, or Presidential signing statements, or the "warrantless wiretap program".
Another battle, less well recognized but equally fundamental, has been brewing over the FCC's sudden reexamination of policies regarding the use of certain "obscene" and "profane" utterances over the broadcast airwaves.
On June 4th, the US Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, based in New York, ruled that the FCC's new policy exceeded its authority; and the two opinions (majority and dissenting) issued in Fox v. FCC (docket number 06-1760) will be the subjects of today's discussion. Read More »
I watched it last night and frankly I was appalled--"and grateful that I learned about it (simply because the University of North Carolina's film collection has it and I routinely search its growing list of consecutive call numbers assigned to films as they're acquired).
There are so many things of note in the film, but I'm going to mention only a few. One of the objectives of the director, Kirby Dick, was to try to identify the members of the rating board, whose makeup had for many years been a closely held secret, on the command of Jack Valenti (1921-2007), who created the rating board and was the MPAA's president for 38 years. Dick hired a private investigator and was successful in identifying all of the current members and exposing the fact that a number of them didn't fit the official MPAA profile of "average American with children." He also identified the members of the appeals board, to whom a film maker can appeal a decision of the rating board. Their identity had been even more closely guarded. And no wonder: they represent the corporate interests of the top production companies, who control around 90% of the movie business. Dick speculates that the secrecy and the corporate interest of the MPAA derives from Valenti's ties to government (he was an adviser to Lyndon B. Johnson) and to the movie industry. He candidly testified to Congress in 1968, when the rating board was created, that if the movie industry didn't police itself then undoubtedly government would police it. That is, the rating board was proposed as a self-defensive maneuver.
The MPAA is a lavishly funded lobbying organization, with a building in Washington to house its huge cadre of lobbyists. Through their efforts, Congress hears mostly about corporate interests (in strong copyright laws, anti-piracy technology regulations, etc.), and very little about consumer interests. Ironically, despite the rating board's assurance to Dick that no copy would be made of the tape he submitted for rating his film, a copy was made. But he had to do some more detective work to discover the fact. Ironic that this strongly anti-piracy organization should brazenly indulge in a sort of piracy....
One of the many things that I appreciated about "This Film Is Not Yet Rated" was its insight into the rating boards' role in violence's being so much more prevalent in American films than sex--just the opposite of European films, where sex is accepted as a normal part of life but violence is frowned upon. (But we all know that America is the most violent of "civilized" societies.) The corporation-friendly members of the rating board are okay with the depiction of violence (especially the dishonest variety that implies that shooting, stabbing, or cutting people is akin to make-believe--see, kids, people don't even bleed when you kill them!) But the depiction of sexual pleasure isn't okay (especially when it's a woman enjoying it; the board is much friendlier toward the depiction of rape and other forms of violence against women).
As I said, if you care about movies and abhor censorship (and the promotion of antisocial values) by people whose identity is not normally made public, then you should watch "This Film Is Not Yet Rated."
By the way, I do not recommend the Wikipedia's entry on the MPAA, which strikes me as a whitewash. But you might like to contrast its view of the MPAA to that of "This Film Is Not Yet Rated"--after you watch it.
Their comment in today's paper, below, is a plea to release the full version of their original OpEd before it was censored. Their blacked out version of the OpEd is included, following their comment.
