Dallasites are taking action:
Don’t Attack Iran!
Rally Friday, August 1st
At the North East Corner of Central & Meadow
From 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm
The lead-up to war in Iran is well underway and House Resolution 362, currently being considered is the first step. The resolution would authorize the blockade of Iran and prevent Iranian diplomats from traveling outside of the country. A peaceful resolution to conflict can not be found if leaders can not speak to each other. Make your voice heard this Friday during rush hour at the north east corner of Central and Meadow in Dallas. Bring your signs, water, and friends. And lets tell our elected officials to vote NO on HR 362 and NO to attacking Iran.

In the spirit of “bi-democraticmanship” I’ll publish this for the Hillary fans in Dallas who might not have gotten this email. I imagine that I got it because I am part of Hillary’s demographics—white female close to 60 who lives in Dallas.
On that same day I’ll be sponsoring a call party in my home for Obama—getting the vote out and getting organized for the caucus. This evening I’ll be meeting with several hundred other Obama workers at the Obama headquarters (in the basement of a downtown loft) for pizza and a discussion of how we plan to organize our precincts. Pizza and beverages are all free.
Obama is often accused of being a “Starbuck’s” elitist person, but I have found that it is quite the other way around. I’ve been invited to many Obama events here in Dallas over the past few weeks, but I have NEVER been invited to any Obama event where I had to write out a check in order to attend it.

Well I'm excited. Today I hope to see and perhaps shake hands with the next president of the USA.
I look forward to participating and I also look forward to hearing what both Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama will say tomorrow night in the Austin debate. Perhaps we can hear it from the candidates directly about their plans instead of listening to other people's interpretations of what they say they will do.
And for BOTH candidates these "plans" should all be taken with a huge grain of salt. First of all as I have mentioned, in our changing world, the better part of any plan--particularly an economics plan will need to be drastically revised a year from now when the new president is installed.
Most politicians will tell you almost anything to get elected. It comes down to whose actual record do you trust the most. This video provides many of the reasons why I also am voting for Barack Obama
http://youtube.com/watch?v=EdDzvmY1XPo
For me, it is Senator Obama.
1. He has served more years as an elected official than Hillary.
2. He has authored and co-sponsored many more bills (not all, but the overwhelming majority of which I agree with) than Senator Clinton.
3. Barack has more credibility with me as a person who will actually get rid of Washington lobbyists.
4. He had the intelligence and good judgement to protest the war in a time when it was not popular and he was advised against it for his political career.
By the way this is my third and last for the night. :) I won't be a complete jackass and continue posting but I wanted to share my impressions of the Obama Rally today.
I hope that Pale Rider posted his impressions of the Obama Rally today. He sent me an email about it and it was great.
I am so glad that I went. I almost didn't. I figured it would be like so much damp fireworks without Obama being there. BUT AS IT TURNED OUT: for me it was WONDERFUL! Because what I GOT was that this is NOT about Barack. Not at all! His campaign is about we the people. It is about OUR power, not his and that is his appeal--not him as a personalitiy.
No Obama BUT There was so MUCH energy and so much diversity--young, old, black, white, latino,American Indian, Iraq Vets against the war, children, babies. It was beautiful. It was such a great and wonderful experience. We are inspired.
A feeling of coming together. A feeling of "we the people" can repair the damage--with or without Barack or Hillary. I was very inspired and still am.
FOR ALL OBAMA AND HILLARY TEXAS VOTERS:
Advice from Liz: (Take what you can use and disregard the rest)
1. VOTE EARLY (this way you will be free on election day to drive people or to do other services to assist in the voting process. Also this makes sure that nothing will come up to keep you from voting.)
2. note: Your early voting place is not the same as where you normally vote. Find out where it is. Go online.
3. On TUESDAY MARCH 4 NO LATER THAN 7PM PLAN TO BE AT THE PRECINT WHERE YOU VOTE. THIS IS CRITICAL. Also remember, your precint is NOT the same place where you early voted.
You will be caucusing for additional delegates.
SO MY FRIENDS: BE REMINDED, UNLIKE OTHER STATES, IN TEXAS YOU VOTE TWICE. :) You really do and it is legal.
He will be elsewhere but there will be other speakers
LOCATION; Fair Park Dallas, Texas
Join fellow Obama supporters for a free public rally outside the Hall of State in Fair Park this Sunday the 17th from 3pm to 5pm.
Ron Kirk, the first African American mayor of Dallas will be the speaker.During his tenure as mayor, Kirk earned the reputation of being a coalition-builder, managing to keep the always-tumultuous Dallas City Council and Dallas School Board together. Under his leadership, he proposed the "Dallas Plan," a vision for the next 25 years, which included the controversial Trinity River Project, a $246 million plan that called for constructing a network of parks and highways in the floodplain of the Trinity River. Under his leadership he also pushed the construction of the American Airlines Center , whose opening he oversaw in 2002.
In 1991 Kirk was re-elected as mayor of Dallas in a landslide with 74 percent of the vote.

Here are two items to let you know that liberals are alive and well in Dallas, despite what the Bush-controlled media may say about Dallas and despite the fact that we seem to be stuck against our protests with having his library at SMU.
FIRST OF ALL MANY OF US DON’T LIKE THE PATRIOT ACT
Texans have passed resolutions opposing sections of the USA Patriot Act in four communities: Austin, Dallas, El Paso and Sunset Valley.Nationwide more than 385 communities have passed resolutions against this hideous assault to our rights to privacy. By selecting the link below you can get all the necessary details for passing a community resolution in your area.

As long as I got so personal as to share my non-virtual world of yesterday with you, here is an email that I sent to a friend this morning.
WISH YOU COULD HAVE BEEN THERE YESTERDAY
I wish you could have been there yesterday. You would have really liked Doug Zachary, a Vietnam Vet who was one of those we talked with. He is very intelligent and travels all over the world. He is a very genuine and truthful person. He lives in Oakland now.
These vets are so great and so peaceful and respectful. They remind me of Zen monks. But they are warriors too.
