They know the numbers (and it's not the Gallup numbers, it's the factual numbers).  Nationwide the Democrats have 11 million more registered voters than the Republicans.  All we have to do is show up and vote. They know this so they are pulling no stops with their dirty tricks.  Here is one of their latest from Wisconsin:

A lawsuit filed by the state attorney general Wednesday has the potential to slow down voting lines in what promises to be a staggering turnout for the Nov. 4 election, local voting officials said.  "It will disenfranchise voters. That's what we're concerned about," City Clerk Maribeth Witzel-Behl said.

Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen, a Republican, filed the lawsuit Monday in Dane County Circuit Court to get ineligible voters off the rolls. It calls for a court order mandating the Government Accountability Board to cross-check voters who have registered since Jan. 1, 2006, when federal Help America Vote Act legislation required that states implement a voter database to cross-check voter registrations with Department of Transportation, criminal and death records.

"We're working on plans to make sure we don't have long lines at the polls, make sure that the lines can move smoothly and quickly," Witzel-Behl said. "If we throw this into the mix, then it is going to slow things down."The GAB didn't have the voter registration system up and running until Aug. 6 of this year and has said it will cross-check from that date on. Van Hollen said that to comply with federal law, the state has to go back to the federal deadline.

Van Hollen spokesman Kevin St. John said Van Hollen wants the GAB to verify voters who registered by mail since Jan. 1, 2006, because they didn't have to show an ID.

MEET A REPUBLICAN 'HELPER':  You think that he is trying to help the voters of Wisconsin?  I don't.  He is just another example of more of the same that we've had for the past 8 years.  Do you think he represents Democracy?  I don't.  He represents more of the same.

Every four years, the Democratic Party assembles a platform that outlines the party's position on a variety of issues. Traditionally, the platform is written by paid professionals and then presented to the American people. This year, thats going to change. I am holding three Platform Meetings in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. We will meet to talk about what issues are most importantand what should be at the heart of the Democratic platform for change. The results of these Platform Meetings will be incorporated into the formal process that culminates in the adoption of the platform at the Democratic Convention in August.

If you would like to attend one of these listening sessons, please RVSP for the date, time, and location you would oike to attend. GEE...

I wonder why Wisconsin ranks number one in getting "shetfaced". Could it be because there's nothing else better for those of us who are grown , single , adults to do ? Seriously. One of the first things I noticed right away when I moved here was that this is not a state for single people or adults for that matter. The entire state looks as though it was designed by Parents who don't want to be bothered with kids.

Nothing but schools and playgrounds, water parks and Colleges . Nothing at all for the adults besides a bar on every corner and a few pathetic attemps at night clubs (Sorry, but I'm from Cali) So, it's no wonder that Wisconsin ranks number one in getting "shetfaced" all the time. Give us something else besides "Packer Season" and maybe we'll lay off the booze. Don't Cha Know?

Just letting you know that a new Obama for America Campaign Office has opened at 1225 Erie Avenue in Sheboygan, staffed by five field organizers, including myself. Come in any weekday from 10 am until 8 pm. You can call 920-918-0879, or send an email to me at asher@asherheimermann.com to learn about how you can get involved. New WI Poll: Obama Up +13

SNIP: Source: Daily Kos/WISPolitics.com

Here are some of the details from the Wisconsin poll ~ it's all good news for Obama and the Dems:

Wisconsin was a key battleground in the presidential contests of 2000 and 2004 and saw extraordinarily tight contests in both years. Al Gore beat George W. Bush by 5,708 votes (0.2 percent) in 2000, and John Kerry bested Bush by 11,384 votes in 2004 (0.38 percent). Goldstein points out, "In both 2000 and 2004, party attachments in the state were virtually identical with equal numbers of voters identifying with the Democrats and the GOP. One of the striking results in this poll and consistent with other survey work I have done in the state, the Democrats now enjoy a major advantage in party identification." In the study, 38 percent of probable voters identified with the Democrats and 24 percent with Republicans.

Obama has very strong favorable ratings with 64 percent of Wisconsin probable voters saying they have a favorable opinion and 32 percent having an unfavorable opinion. McCain also has relatively strong favorables, too, at 53 percent to 44 percent. Obama is seen as the candidate to bring about change (70 percent to McCain’s 42 percent) while McCain is seen as the experienced candidate (84 percent to Obama’s 43 percent). Still, as the evidence shows, McCain faces a stiff headwind in Wisconsin

Party polarization is a striking feature of Wisconsin opinion at this time with 87 percent of Democrats and 89 percent of Republicans saying they would vote for their party’s nominee if the election were held today. "For all the talk about a new politics, the electorate is sharply split,’’ said Franklin. Among independents, Obama holds a nine-point lead, 46 percent to 37 percent for McCain with 17 percent undecided.

This morning, Barack kicked off his second trip to Montana with a town hall meeting at Billings West High School.  A crowd of over 2,000 people came out to hear him speak about his plans to improve our healthcare system, education, and many other issues. Judging from the photo, a lot of white people and older people didn't get the memo about whites and older people not being for Obama. [ We need to remember states like Wisconsin. Only  6% of that state is black. A larger than national average of people 65 and older live there. People with a college degree is lower than the national average in Wisconsin.  He  won the rural vote therere as well.  Obama won Wisconsin 59% to Hillary's 39%.]

The ad that is running, by the Coalition for Wisconsin Families, was banned by WBAY-TV, as the lawyers felt it was slanderous. Not surprising, but the point I make here is that the owner of that PAC, Steve King.
King is also the current Wisconsin GOP National Committee Chairman.

Can a PAC/527 owner be an official in a state party? Conflict or money laundering scam? I don't know, but would like this issue to be news.

King, whose long history of seedy Republican activity dates back to Nixon's CREEP group, his job to keep Martha Mitchell 'under wraps' and then was Earl Butz top aide, when he made the famous comment about 'coloreds needing a tight *****, a warm place to **** and loose shoes.
King's history of controversy then landed him in WIsconsin, where Republicans embraced him, and elevated him to top jobs, including party Chairman.
Now he heads off to the convention, as Wisconsin's top Republican.
Running a shady PAC, and heading a party position seems to be outside ethical, or legal bounds.

I would hope others post complaints in their local papers, contact the media and make a real stink about this 'stinky' man and his 'stinky' PAC's tactics.   Read More »
WMC is the Wisconsin Manufactuers & Commerce PAC, or organization or something.
One this that is true, about this money laundry, is that they are buying elected officials. They placed an unethical and corrupt judge on the state's highest court in 2007.
Annette Ziegler is facing, her peers on the court, for unethical and illegal acts as a judge from West Bend, Wi...where she ruled on cases that benefited her husbna's bank, and he own WalMart stock holdings.
She deined doing anything wrong, until she won. They she admitted her wrongdoing.
She got elected because WMC spent twice as much money, on 'issue' ads, as the two candidates COMBINED!

And they are at it again, against incumbent Justice Louis Butler.

We need as much help, on the blogs and with the state Dems to make sure this "Capone-like" gang does not win another seat.
Abusing the soft money aspects, they were created, after the GOP began their Contract on America.
Since then this group has hopped into bed with such other illegal gangs, as Tom Delay, Newt Gingrich and Bob Ney.

I hope Dems can attack this group for what it is.
A big money cult of arrogant neocons, who are bent on destroying free democracy in Wisconsin.
Many Wisconsin newspapers have forum to join and voice you help.
Contact the Wisc Dems to find more resources.
We cannot have corrupt judges in our Supreme Court, much less on any bench in Wisconsin.

Just within the past few days, two huge unions have given Barack Obama their NATIONAL endorsements.

"National" is an important distinction.  Up until now SEIU has allowed endorsements at local levels, but now they have consolidated into a national backing for Senator Obama.

The UFCW with its 1.3 million workers has stayed out of the political arena until now.  These two endorsement mean that the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) with 1.9 million workers and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW)  with their 1.3 million add up to over 3 million workers behind Senator obama nationally.

If you wonder where labor went when John Edwards left, look no further than the SEIU.  When John Edwards dropped out the SEIU California state council endorsed Obama.  And now they have endorsed Senator Obama nationally.

These endorsement should have a huge impact in Ohio.

If you think that unions are composed of a bunch of old white men, you would be wrong.  For example, more  than  400,000 UFCW union members are under the age of 30.

www.myufcw.org

If you are a working person in Wisconsin, Hawaii, Texas, Ohio or Pennsylvania, read what the UFCW President has to say about Obama.  He says that Senator has the best policies to make the American Dream possible.

the UFCW has endorsed Sen. Obama. Here's the statement from UFCW president Joe Hansen:

For the 1.3 million members of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW), the 2008 Presidential election is about restoring the American dream for America’s workers.   UFCW members are energized to seize this opportunity to change America and restore the American Dream for workers and their families.

The UFCW has a powerful presence and a strong organization in key primary states such as Wisconsin, Hawaii, Texas and Ohio.  We are the largest union of young workers with more than forty percent of our members under the age of thirty.  Senator Obama’s message of changing hope into reality has inspired our members, particularly our young members, across the country.

We have the utmost respect for Senator Clinton and her tireless efforts on behalf of working people.  And while both Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have a vision to change America, we believe that Senator Obama is the best candidate to build a movement to unite our country that will deliver the type of change that is needed – for good jobs, affordable health care, retirement security and worker safety.

Our country requires a change—change that restores America to a place of opportunity and security, where hard work is respected and those who do it are protected.

Our country requires change that brings the security working people require to improve their lives and the lives of their children and grandchildren.

Senator Obama understands the needs of working people. As a community organizer, he understands that America must restore the balance between working America and corporate America. He will fight to level the playing field on behalf of workers across our country.  He will fight to regain the rights and protections workers have lost after too many years of the Bush Administration.

UFCW will be mobilizing, organizing and energizing our members, their friends and families to make Senator Obama not just the Democratic nominee, but the next President of the United States.

We are talking about the dreams of meatpackers and food processors working long hours to ensure that the dreams of their sons and daughters for college and a better life become a reality.  We are talking about giving life to the dreams of cashiers and clerks in retail and grocery stores. That is what this election is about. It is about the dreams of hard working people across this country. Men and women who deserve to have their elected officials work as hard as they do.

It is Senator Obama who is best positioned, and who has the best policies, to make these dreams a reality.  Senator Obama is the candidate of the American dream.

I just watched an interview with CCN's Evan Wolfson and Wisconsin's Governor Jim Doyle.  Wolfson asked Doyle, a super delegate who has endorsed Obama, "What do you think of Senator Obama's refusal to debate Senator Clinton.  Do you feel like the citizens of your state have been shortchanged?

Here ia a paraphrase of Doyle's response:

No. Senator Obama has been in this state every day but one since the Potomac primaries, meeting people, talking to them, by the thousands.  Senator Clintons only presence in Wisconsin until yesterday was the negative ad that she put out about Senator Obama not being willing to vote.

Doyle also said that as a super delegate that he will vote for the candidate who has the most delegates nationally and that he felt that is the only fair way to decide a national election.

When asked about Michigan and Florida.  He said that the votes could not be counted.  Both Michigan and Florida knew what the consequences were when they held their primaries when they did.  He did suggest that something might be worked out, but it did not include counting the votes "as is."

We need to inspire a sense of leadership in our political candidates to carry the cause of labor to the forefront of their campaigns. Little to no mention is made of the continual blight facing labor - the insecurity that confronts each and every worker in this global economy dominated by the interests of the business elite. The precarious position of labor is highlighted by the exponential explosion in the number of jobs across professional boundaries that are being affected by insourcing (foreign workers legally brought into the country to replace U.S. workers) and outsourcing. Each and every worker needs to come together in a community of laborers that will positively influence our candidates.

If our candidates don't articulate more forcefully the needs of the community of labor we'll be forced to move towards a more visible and defiant means of communicating our grievances. We will be counting the click of each second on our clock of action.   Read More »
A distinction should be made between less government touted by the neoclassical conservative coalition and good government first practiced by FDR. Good government is synonymous with good governance - the belief that through our collective community of spirit and action where able to shape a better future for all. It is the belief that government should benefit the many over the few and inspire a community of interest in our collective well being.

It is entirely possible to have less government whereby the interests of the few elite are satisfied at the expense of the national community. When taxation is directed exclusively at the majority but excludes an elite minority and government expenditures are directed via special interest legislation towards the betterment of those least requiring betterment. Even government taxation and expenditures on a scale that qualifies as feather light may be disproportionately distributed to those not in need but those who've never needed.   Read More »

Here is an interesting article from the CNN politics site titled OBAMA KNOCKS CLINTON FOR TIES TO LOBBYISTS.  It is fairly recent as it was posted about 12 hours ago.

According to Senator Obama:

"The problem we have is not a lack of good ideas," Obama said in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Friday. "It's that Washington today is a place where good ideas go to die."

"In this campaign, [Clinton has] taken nearly double the amount of money from lobbyists than any Democrat or Republican running for president," he said. "That's not being a part of the solutions business. That's being a part of business-as-usual in Washington."

There is also a video of the speech available from this site.
