Many months ago Senator Obama stated that if elected he would start removal of combat troops from Iraq in 60 days at a rate of about 2 Brigades every 90 days. Has anyone heard what the latest Obama Iraq plan is? All I am hearing is crap on the media channels available in my area. At least I know what McCains plans are, four more years of the same. It sure would be nice to know what future Obama has in mind, before the election since Oregon mails out the ballots about October 21. Seems like the lights are on but no ones home.
A few days ago I received a letter from our local school board. Due the increasing cost of fuel for the buses, and everything else as a result, to cut expense the board has decided to cut a few teachers, teachers aides, and a janitor. Under the Oregon Department of Education rules school athletics and extra-cirriculum activities are not required for a school district to remain certified, yet no school in Oregon will dare cut expense in these two areas. Why not???? Our classes are too large, yet we cut the number of teachers. Our students score low on their tests so we grade on a curve and give passing grades to those who score 58 out of a 100. Starting in the local middle schools students are identified as college material, jocks and others then teacher set priorities to help the top college and jock types and shun the others. Why???? Why are members of the wrestling team taught that anerexia and bolemia are ways to maintain their weight?   Read More »
The Pendleton Round-Up is quickly approaching as I watch more and more public service groups prepare their booths and prep their teams for the areas biggest bite of the economic apple. And all the while the election is trudging along tit for tat Democrat-Republican ads with this weeks urgent topic being off shore drilling for oil. Now Obama is jumping on the band wagon about possible off shore drilling, which is againt the democratic leadership of the party. Are we losing our focus, and are we losing who we are as democrats? How are we going to loosen the grip of oil dependence by drilling to find more oil?   Read More »
Maybe it's not as bad as I think.

Hey Y'all,
I'm a little slow, but it just occurred to me that as a nation we have been here before. The crazy McCarthy crackdown on communism, the post Pearl Harbor attack temporary internment camps of Japanese Americans.

That means we can fix this.

We can get rid of the administration that violates human rights, tortures people, and holds suspects for years without charging them. Restore due process. If we play our cards right we can have the criminals culpable exposed to the real American justice system.

Are you afraid it doesn't work? It's got a couple hundred year track record of missing about thirty percent of the time. Them's good odds where I live.

Please think seriously before you vote. Read your voter's pamphlet, and if your state doesn't provide one; read what the contestants have to say about their position, not what their opponents say about their positions.

Please.

Peace.

Hey Y'all, I know I'm just a hard woking country boy who's decisions are many times incorrect. I also know I will get an E.S.&D. from many Clinton supporters. I don't think Obama can have Clinton on his ticket after she accepted donations from lobbyists (
Yes folks,
Common, customary, and even habitual. When I hear the words I cringe: "Politics as usual"

Oh, you mean like deciding whether votes count well after they are cast? How about changing your mind about whether people followed the rules?

Like junkies on drugs we keep using the same system expecting better results.

So what is usual that I really fear? Nameless big buck corporate leaders, and foriegn nations controlling my home government!

There is no difference between Mr. Bush, and Mrs. Clinton on any level of "politics as usual".

Slander, misrepresentation, outright lies followed by retractions. Corporate funding. History of questionable legality. Culpable of the war in Iraq.

I imagine her presidency would be politics as usual at best. There might be some new low she could bring us to as well...

This is just my opinion, but the changes that were made in the war effort since Nancy Pelosi became the lead dog in the house have amounted in more American deaths. My point here is that Nancy had to be a Representative involved in the system for a long time to get where she is; And she suggested things would get shaken up if the democrats held majority. When she took office she sat down with George and he pointed out his FBI file on her, said he owned her ass, and has been telling her what to do ever since.

Things would be worse with Hilary Clinton. The idiots who tell our president what to do will have many cards to play on her. I bet she would "stay the course", but in a more "it's not my fault" kind of way.

Obama and Edwards. That is the ticket.

Imagine even wanting to be leader of a nation with a failing economy, it's ass exposed wide in two wars, military stretched thin, massive debt, and lazy population... It's hard to believe we get any applicants at all, or at least it's easy to see why so many of them are criminals.

I guess you wouldn't have to worry about being the worst president ever thanks to George W. Bush :o)

Peace!
Louie
First let me thank the folks who didn't ship the Edwards stickers I ordered a month ago, I don't have to take them off.
Can you believe what is happening? Our executive branch is playing our legislative branch just like 2003. Someone suggested getting democrats to replace the republicans in congress would change things...

If as president of this great nation you react to a threat and start a war, then during that war elect to begin another war, causing you to lose both wars, several thousand american lives, lot's of cash (and debt), and most of our international friends I think you've done something more than incompetent.

I think Mr. George W. Bush may be found culpable of criminal acts if the legislature decided to investigate and act. But start by shutting his crazy illegalities down, not approving "retro-active immunity"! What is that? Can I get some? None for all america should mean none for nobody. Make that criminal pardon them if he's okay with violating our laws.

I'm actually starting to think my worst nightmare could be true: Nancy Pelosi, John Edwards, Dick Cheney, John McCain...They all work together to plot the sick course so a greedy few can make bank. Or wouldn't someone stand up and say something intelligent like: Impeach the criminal, then prosecute all the criminals fairly under the law.

And again, I didn't swear...but I think this would show more of the compassion I feel and emphasize how wrong things must be.

Can electing Barack Obama make a difference? I hope we get to find out!
Peace!
Louie

Last night, Nickie Kitty helped me lay out the extra quilt on my bed. Well, "hindered" might be more accurate. She had to sit down on each new shape of the quilt as it got unfolded, and make sure it was satisfactory before I could continue.

When the quilt was finally spread out, more or less, she stuck her head under one edge and proceeded to walk across the bed under it. While I was amused, I also felt slightly concerned that she would get frightened under there, and raised my edge. But, she said "MEOW!" in an emphatic manner that clearly indicated, "Put that quilt edge down!" A moment later she emerged, purring and very pleased with herself.

I've seen cats go under covers if they're made into cave or tunnel shapes, but never before have I seen a cat blithely walk across a (double) bed completely under a quilt. They are remarkable creatures and excellent company.
I hope you don't think I'm talking about THIS GUY...

JUST BECAUSE THEY LIVE OUTSIDE DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE HOMELESS
There are cats all around us. But just because a cat lives outside doesn't mean she is homeless. These alley cats, barn cats, or street cats - feral cats - are undomesticated and unsocialized, and call the outside their home, just as squirrels, raccoons, and birds do. Feral cats live together in colonies, and unless spayed or neutered, their numbers grow. Tomcats prowl for mates, females become pregnant, and the cycle of reproduction continues.
[...]
We want everyone to know the truth about feral cats and Trap, Neuter, and Return or TNR. This sensible method of population control returns spayed and neutered cats to their outdoor homes, improves their lives and health, and brings their numbers down.

To learn more about feral cats and how you can help ferals in your neighborhood, visit the Alley Cat Allies website.
