I just want to know. . . are we really going to let Bush get away with lying to us and putting this country in the gutter, literally? I can't figure it out. I go to www.votetoimpeach.org and there have been over 1 million people that have voted for the present 23 Articles of Impeachment against Bush, Cheney, Rice, et al. Yet, the last thought shown is that it went before Congress on July 14, 2008. It is now August 26, 2008 and I don't know what is going on.

The Constitution of the United States states that if we have a bad government in place (Bush, Cheney, Congress), we have the right to abolish the present government and replace each and every one! Us, the American people have to make a stand. Please join me in this fight.

"Please let your friends and family know about this important campaign. There are over 1,000,000 signers who have voted for impeachment. Please ask all those you know to come to the http://www.impeachbush.org/ website and vote to impeach as well as send a message to Congress demanding that they take the proper course of action and introduce articles of impeachment.

Your support is making the impeachment campaign a major force in U.S. politics. Please help us seize the momentum and continue this work, including placing major newspaper ads, at this critical juncture by contributing to this effort. "ISLAMABAD (AFP) - Pakistan's ruling coalition tightened the screw on President Pervez Musharraf Sunday, saying that it had readied impeachment charges against him and was giving him two days to stand down.

Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar told AFP that "the charge sheet will be presented in parliament by Tuesday." Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said a day earlier that Musharraf had to decide on quitting "by today or tomorrow."

The coalition finalised the charges on Sunday after intense deliberations and would present them on Monday to the alliance's leaders, Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif, Information Minister Sherry Rehman said. . . "

_______________________

Musharraf said that he will wait until the impeachment motion is filed before choosing a course of action.

I also read in the Pakistan News that Condoleezza Rice said on Sunday that granting asylum to embattled President Pervez Musharraf was not under consideration by the United States.

Musharraf says he will not step down. Instead he will face impeachment.

This morning’s Hindustan Times reports that Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf rejected reports that he would step down before the launch of impeachment proceeding against him, saying that he was prepared to face the motion in parliment in a “democratic spirit and in accordance with the constitiution.” The beleaguered President also made it clear that he had no intention of using his powers to dissolve parliament.

Well, all that remains to be seen. My guess is that if the impeachment proceedings do not meet with Musharraf’s approval that he will dissolve parliament. The consequences of that will be a revolution in Pakistan.

Impeachment Step 2

Tell your Representatives to co-sponsor  Rep. Kucinich's 35 Articles of Impeachment:
http://democrats.com/35-articles-of-impeachment

After more than three years of grassroots pressure from true patriots like you, Congress finally took step 1 towards impeaching George W. Bush for his High Crimes by holding a "non-impeachment hearing" last Friday.

Witnesses led by Dennis Kucinich, Elliot Adams, Rocky Anderson, Bob Barr, Vincent Bugliosi, Bruce Fein, Maurice Hinchey, and Elizabeth Holtzman presented an overwhelming case for impeachment. Watch the individual videos and the wrap-up by American News Project.

So what stands in the way of  real impeachment hearings?

1. 228 Democrats (and 199 Republicans) who have not co-sponsored Articles of Impeachment against George Bush. Tell your Representatives to co-sponsor Rep. Kucinich's 35 Articles of Impeachment:
http://democrats.com/35-articles-of-impeachment

2. Key Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee who do not support impeachment.

a. Impeachment Hamlets: Bobby Scott, Zoe Lofgren, and Jerry Nadler believe Bush committed impeachable offfenses, but they are terrified to support impeachment. Call them to find out why they can't make up their minds:
http://www.causecaller.com/wiki/Judiciary_Impeachment_Hamlets

b. AWOL Democrats: These members showed their contempt for the Constitution (and their constituents) by not even attending the July 25 hearing: Howard Berman, Rick Boucher, Artur Davis, Bill Delahunt, Luis Gutierrez, Linda Sanchez, Betty Sutton, Maxine Waters, Anthony Weiner. Call them to find out why they failed to do their jobs - and when they will support impeachment:
http://www.causecaller.com/wiki/Judiciary_Impeachment_AWOL

c. Impeachment opponents: Adam Schiff, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Mel Watt believe none of Bush's High Crimes are impeachable. Call them to find out why they have betrayed their Oath of Office:
http://www.causecaller.com/wiki/Judiciary_Impeachment_Opponents

3. House Democratic "Leaders" who oppose impeachment: Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Caucus Chair Rahm Emanuel, Whip Jim Clyburn, and DCCC chair Chris Van Hollen believe impeachment would hurt Democrats in November. Call them to say serious impeachment hearings will expose Republican High Crimes and help Democrats at all levels:
http://www.causecaller.com/wiki/Democratic_Leaders_Should_Impeach_Bush

4. The Corporate Media

Despite six hours of in-depth hearings, there was no substantive coverage in any Corporate Media outlet. Call your favorite TV/radio talk shows and write to your favorite newspaper to demand coverage of impeachment.

I've said it again and again and again and I'll say it again.

One of the ways that the neocon newspeak churned out by the neocon owned mainstream media control the masses (that would be you and me) is by creating red herrings (distractions to divert our attention from the real issues).

Frankly, I sometimes think that most of the members of our Congress are nothing but red herrings themselves, another show to distract us and make us think that things are being done, when in fact nothing is happening except that they are conniving as to how they can put more of our tax dollars into their pockets.

The Republicans and the Democrats sometimes remind me of those fake wrestlers on television who put on these great shows--throwing each other  about and head-banging one another (and then laughing about their show together afterwards in the dressing room).

Look at them!  I'll bet if you did a financial survery of their assets that you would find that an overwhelming majority of those in Congress have assets in excess of a million dollars.

"Scoop" Independent News
Washington, DC Part 1

Today's hearing on the abuse of presidential powers before the House Committee on the Judiciary turned into a devastating political ambush by Chairman John Conyers (D-MI), committee Democrats, and the extraordinary panel of witnesses.. At least 12 Democratic Committee members were present plus the Chairman while only four Republicans bothered to show up.

Impeachment Resolution: First Reading Today

 July 15, 2008

Dear Friends,

This afternoon, at approximately 5 p.m. (EDT), the Clerk of the House of Representatives will give the first reading of the Article of Impeachment of President George Bush. Article One charges the President with deceiving Congress with fabricated threats of Iraq WMDs to fraudulently obtain support for an authorization of the use of military force against Iraq.

Once the Clerk reads the bill, I will move to refer the bill to the Judiciary Committee for hearings. I believe the American people have a right to an open airing of the charges against this President. Did he or did he not lie to take us into a war? I believe the evidence is overwhelming that President Bush knew that Iraq was not an imminent threat, was not in possession of WMDs at the time, and had nothing to do with 911 or with al Queda's role in 911. And yet, despite having facts to the contrary, he took the U.S. into war with devastating consequences for our troops, our nation, and the people of Iraq. Congress must hold hearings.

There can be no greater offense of a President or a Commander in Chief than to conjure a war based on lies to Congress, to the troops, and to the people of America.

I love our country with all my heart and I intend to persist until America is America again.

Please contact your friends and neighbors and ask them to go to our website at www.Kucinich.us and sign the impeachment petition. Thank you for your continuing support and for your love of our country and its people.

Sign the petitionSincerely,

Dennis

As I mentioned in a previous post, I came home yesterday after work and switched on C-span to see Kucinich delivering testimony once again regarding why Bush should be impeached.

I'm encouraged on this for two reasons.  I've watched all of the Honorable Kucinich's previous presentations on impeachment for Cheney and for Bush; however, I found this one encouraging on two accounts:  1) the people in chambers applauded when Kucinich concluded his remarks--to the point that the presiding officer had to call for order and 2) Speaker Pelosi said on Thursday that the House Judiciary Committee may hold hearings on an impeachment resolution offered by Kucinich.  This clearly signals a new willingness to at least entertain the notion of kicking Bush out.

However, I've become so cynical of our Congress that I'm inclined to think that this new declaration of Pelosi's is likely nothing more than the good cop/bad cop routine that the Democrats and Republicans play against the people.  (Now that there is little chance of impeachment being implemented before the jackasses' term runs out, we can begin our impeachment proceedings.)  Impeachment proceedings should have begun in April of 2007 when Kucinich first filed.

Following is part of the text of his speech in the House yesterday afternoon late:

[decided to qualify it.]  :) as we have so many opinons on this site and I'm fine with them all, even the ones I disagree with..

I was in meetings all morning and half the afternoon and thus I've been unplugged from the DNC site as well as  c-span and other ongoing news.

About 5 pm eastern time I tuned in to C- span and low and behold my darling Kucinich was on and reading articles of impeachment live (This was not a replay from last month.)  YEA!  A  man who keeps his word (where can I get more? I know sexist but I don't care, sue me.)  I'll have to check out Kucinich's site to get the details on what he was doing.  I do know that he promised 30 days ago to return in 30 days if the House did not act on the 35 articles of impeachment that he filed against Bush and that he would bring 60 more.

THAT WAS ONE PIECE OF PROMISED GOOD NEWS AND NOW HERE IS THE SECOND:

(FORGIVE ME if it has been posted already today as I didnt' see it.)

THE ACLU  and others filed a law suit this morning against Congress and the government for the FISA bill.

YEA!   I'll get more information on this later or please if any one has details on this please post the details for me. and/or refer me to links.

BEST TO YOU ALL

I've thought this before, as I'm sure many of you have as well.  Each time when we hear about one more stupendous revelation regarding one more horrendous thing thing that this administration has done against humanity, we say:  "This time they have REALLY done it. . ."

It has almost come to the cynical point with me  that I think they will have murder small children front of us and then laugh about it before our Congress could be moved off their self-serving asses to begin impeachment proceedings.  Honest to God!  What more does this administration have to do to prove themselves worthy of impeachment?

Well, today on Huffington Post, I read one more thing:

" .  .   .  We now know that the torture of prisoners was the result of a policy set in the White House by former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Vice President Dick Cheney, and Rice -- who actually chaired the torture meetings. The Pentagon has also acknowledged that it had authorized sexualized abuse of detainees as part of interrogation practices to be performed by female operatives. And documents obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union have Rumsfeld, in his own words, checking in on the sexualized humiliation of prisoners.  .   .   "

Then call your representative in Congress and demand that they begin impeachment proceedings.

As if the Bush administration has not already done enough to bring our country and its people to our economic knees, they continue to do their damage. And as each day passes, I grow angrier and angrier at the members of the House of Representatives for not beginning the impeachment proceedings against George Bush and Dick Cheney.

In addition to the horrible implications of nuclear war (bought about by Pakistan, who do have nuclear bombs and who could possibly retaliate in defense of Iran); there is a more immediate effect of the Bush administration along with Congress’s support of continued badgering of Iran:  the price of oil.

World oil prices have risen by nearly 50% since the beginning of 2008.  Many believe that among the contributing factors, the uncertainty about Iran is another issue that keeps oil prices high.  It is reported that oil market still believes that there is at least a 50% chance that either Israel or the USA will attack Iran before the end of Bush’s term.  Some experts predict the price per barrel for oil could rise as high as $200 a barrel before fall.

One way to take that speculation away is to remove Bush and his administration from the equation by impeaching Bush and Cheney.

We learned from the article published in the New Yorker last week by Seymour Hersh that the Bush administration is sponsoring a $400 million covert action program against Iran to destabilize its government.  We know that if Cheney had his way that Iran and likely half the Middle East would lay in smoldering ruins.  We know now with a degree of some certainty that Cheney and Bush would like nothing better than to initiate a shoot-out at the Iranian OK Corral.

And members of our Congress continue to vote YEA on amendments like the Kyle-Lieberman Amendment and H.Con.Res. 362 that are nothing more than bully threats against Iran that increase instability in the Middle East and drive up the price of oil for Americans.

Isn’t it time to tell them NO. and to demand that they begin impeachment proceedings against this administration now while we still have a country and a world left?
