I have started a group on facebook and myspace to encourage interation with the new administration. The facebook group has begun to build up and I would like to encourage a Democratic base in the group. May I ask that you take a moment to check it out and if it is interesting to you please consider joining?
It is a bottom up group and the membership that votes in the weekly votes will set the agenda for the group.
It might also require giving your opinions on the issues.
The group is called Political Interaction and can currently be found on facebook and at

Are their ANY democratic leaders that represent the ISSUES that you support?
What democtratic ISSUES do you support?
Why are you a democrat?
Do not underestimate the Republicans. They will try very hard to find a way to use this to generate sympathy for Palin as defending the health and safety of her poor little sister.
It is much safer for us to attack on the issues, and attack McCain.
Palin is a false target the Republicans set up to distract us.
It is entirely possible that the only reason they chose her is purely as a way to distract us.
And it is working. She is all we talk about.
It is as though Barack disappeared from the face of the earth.
Get the focus on our strength: BARACK
Attack where we have the most strength: on the issues of universal healthcare, free college, extending education, plug-in cars etc
Always attack from strength (our superior issues) instead of attacking a woman who can claim she is defending her family, thereby creating resentment of us.
McCain/Bush and the issues are our strength, use them and forget the distraction.
Democtratic party and uplift the issues of our candidates, my heart burst with pride as I watched our great Democratic Party make history as the first major party to nominate an African American for President of the United States of America.
On the Fourth of July, 2007, I signed the papers to register as a Democrat and abandoned my life long membership in the Republican Party. What a great day!
May God Bless America, and God Bless our Democratic Party!
Have we become so petty as a nation that when we do not have valid real issues of substance against a candidate we turn to being petty and verbally assaulting candidates and people with spit balls? Perfect example is the negative frictional statements that Obama is so dumb he is scripted on cue of his every word by his handlers. A lot of people should be so lucky to be numbered among these gifted few dumb souls. The President who succeeded in tearing down a wall in Russia by his careful ingenious scripting not only with words but also by timing and date. This president was President Ronald Reagan. Really tired of the spit balls stating the concerns of Americans, usually conservative right wingers who say Democrats are immoral, crooks etc. They are ready to beat the drum on the events of a few while getting upset when you mention the crimal acts of a President name Nixon, resulting in resignation of born again Col. Oliver North and many of the Nixon administration. The ancient script states he that is not guilty of sin throw the first stone. Get real!!! There are great souls on both sides of the aisle of the political floor. John F. Kennedy didn’t have a lot of experience regarding foreign affairs, but he handled the Cuban Missile Crises quite well. Morality is not the gauntlet of government. Obama is honest enough to tell you his plans and possibilities for change in taxes and attempts to improve our economic futures to the more former prosperous days. Senior former President Bush said, read my lips no new taxes. What happened? More taxes, so wake up and be willing to trust again. Light, Life, Love. The chemical, nitrogen trifluoride (NF3), could be considered the "missing greenhouse gas," atmospheric chemists Michael J. Prather and Juno Hsu of UC Irvine wrote in a paper released June 26 in the journal Geophysical Research Letters. "With the surge in flat-panel displays, the market for NF3 has exploded."
Alarm bells have begun to ring in climate scientest quarters with the increased production. According to calculations by Chemists Proather and Hsu it has a life of 550 yeaers.
When the Kyoto Protocol, the 1997 international global warming treaty, was negotiated to control the rapid rise of planet-warming gases, NF3 was a niche product used in modest amounts in the semiconductor industry.
At the time, computer chip manufacturers used perfluorocarbons to clean the vacuum chambers where integrated circuits were made. But about two-thirds of the PFCs escaped into the atmosphere, contributing to the greenhouse effect, a warming of the Earth's surface.
Reacting to environmental concerns, the industry sought a substitute -- and estimated that NF3, was less likely to escape into the air though it had much greater potential for causing global warming. "The world's leading producer is air products in Allentown, PA stating they moved into the production of NF3 for environmental reasons. The company received a 2002 Climate Protection Award from the Environmental Protection Agency for its transition.
Last year, Air Products announced a major production expansion at its U.S. and Korean plants. About three-quarters of the chemical is now used to manufacture computer microchips; the rest is used to make liquid crystal display panels on flat-screen televisions, Painter said.
Overall, world production of NF3 is likely to reach 8,000 tons a year by 2010 as stated by an executive at AIr Products. That is the equivalent of more than 130 million metric tons of carbon dioxide. By comparison, according to the UC Irvine paper, a major coal-fired power plant producing 3,600 megawatts of electricity emits as much as 25 million metric tons of carbon dioxide a year.
Prather stated that about 2% of NF3 is emitted during manufacturing and that much of that is burned off before reaching the atmosphere. "a slippery gas" such as NF3 could easily leak out undetected during manufacture, transport, application or disposal. "We don't know if 1% is getting out or 20% is getting out. . . . But once you let the genie out of the bottle, you can't get it back in."
Prather also said UC Irvine researchers were working on a method to measure concentrations of the gas in the atmosphere so that industry emissions estimates would not be the only source of information.
Atmospheric scientists not connected with the paper said the authors had raised a significant issue for future climate negotiations.
"NF3 lives a very long time in the atmosphere," said Charles E. Kolb Jr., an IPCC scientist with Massachusetts-based Aerodyne Research Inc.
"We are having a hard enough time controlling carbon dioxide and methane -- we shouldn't be creating a new problem."
We need to know how much of these super-greenhouse gases are up there."
The Kyoto Protocol covered six greenhouse gases: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, PFCs and sulfur hexafluoride.
Shouldn't the government be looking into this? Would this be an issue Barack Obama and the Democrats might sieze and take the lead on? Is it worth mentioning at all at this stage? And lastly, are there even any real answers for the public to discuss and consider?

The Walberg Watch Video of the Week:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0K_Ba2WdRVI
For those that don't remember this episode (or want to relive it), the comments were initially covered here. Stephen Colbert's take on the situation is available here.
If you have subjects you'd like to see in future videos, feel free to mention them in the comments. And if you think you can make a better video than me, by all means, please do so!
Cross-posted from Walberg Watch.
Tim Walberg says we need to drill for more oil. That's the central theme of his energy plan. But he says he wants more than just drilliing for oil. For instance, there's this press release from June 5th:
Congressman Walberg has co-sponsored legislation to provide incentives for solar, wind, cellulosic ethanol, bio-diesel and energy conservation. He also supports an increase in domestic energy production through carbon-free nuclear power and clean-coal technology. He has co-sponsored legislation that would encourage conservation with tax credits for green buildings and legislation that would spark a revolution in clean hydrogen technology.
Did you catch that? He didn't put too much emphasis on it, but it was there. Tim Walberg says he supports energy conservation, too.

What I saw while in Latvia:
US Dollar is .445 to 1 Lat ($1123.60 = 500 Lats)
Russian tanks are on the border of Georgia ready to invade because President Bush is pushing for installation of the missle defense system in Eastern NATO countries. The Latvian President is working with PM Puttin to resolve the issue.
Spain is in a major drought with only 20% of the countrys' water remaining available. They are starting to import water using oil super tankers.
Italy is in the middle of a major wet season with most farm land and cities being flooded.
I only learned of the Chinese earthquake while at the Riga airport waiting to board the plane to come home. Read More »
As a Utah resident I am aware of the general strong opposition the predominant faith has against these very issues. However I learned of a democratic organizing group sponsored and reaching out to Mormons. I recieved a comment on my blog at another site from a voter who is a member of a Catholic group. Organizations like these may prove the pundits wrong.
By putting all our efforts into Party Building, we may be able to turn Republican voters around and sway Independents. There are other very important issues to consider. I believe many of the voters can be trusted to evaluate the candidates and break away from old habits.

Single-Payer Health Care Financing To Be Considered by Colorado Senate Health and Human Services Committee
Please tell others and bring as many people as possible
Colorado Senate Resolution - SR08-006 - Affordable Access to High Quality Healthcare
Approximately 25 or more souls showed up ready to testify today in the Senate Health & Human Services Committee in favor of our Resolution SR08-006 - Affordable Access to High Quality Healthcare. Unfortunately, our Resolution was laid over until tomorrow, Thursday, May 1st at 1:30 PM still in room SCR 356 at the Colorado State Capitol Building.
I know this is trying but it is our only shot this Session and I think this Resolution has a good chance to pass out of Committee and into the Senate.
We now have a golden opportunity on two fronts:
GATHER MORE PEOPLE and overflow the room on Thursday. Call friends, other HCAC members and members of other organizations who you know. Not everyone has to testify to make a point. When a Legislative Committee sees a room full of people all on the same side of an issue they cannot ignore it. If you can’t be there send a proxy.
CREATE MORE TESTIMONY, live, written and by phone.
Live testimony is always terrific. Remember you get 3 minutes and they will cut you off. So don’t make the mistake of spending too long in getting to your point. Always be courteous and friendly. You are reporting to these people, they didn’t cause the problem, they are trying to solve it. . . mostly.
Written testimony allows some more flexibility on time but still should be succinct and solution oriented. Never threaten voter retaliation just tell them how they can help you.
Telephone calls to the legislator’s offices are effective. Make reference to the Resolution by name or #SR08-006. Briefly tell them why we want and value their support. If you happen to live in their District make sure to mention that. Thank them for listening.
SUBJECTS:
Personal stories are valued if they can be presented quickly and kept on point. Legislators are real people too; your stories do touch them. Always circle back to how a public health care system (single payer) would have helped in your situation where for profit insurance failed. Try to stay positive and factual. Wild claims about insurance abuses or imagined collusion or corruption undermine credibility, stay factual and be able to back up what you say. Here-say is less valuable than your real personal experience. Personal observations on other country’s health care systems that you have experienced are good.
Technical information testimony is helpful and shows our knowledge. You should be able to back up a claim with a reference, which could be a newspaper, magazine, technical paper or report, website, etc. where you learned it. Information developed by the 208 Commission resonates with some. Read the Resolution and work out material in support of a particular paragraph. These are smart people but don’t resist writing in simple terms. We know much more about our topic than they do. This is about informing them. If you have a question feel free to call me.

I'm lucky, I have most of them. I know people who don't.
I know people who are homeless right now.
I know people who have been turned away from doctors' offices.
I know people facing bankruptcy and foreclosure.
I know many people who had to drop out of school to work a low income job, and who don't have adequate healthcare, and who will never be able to save up money for their old age.

In the begining Senator Clinton acted like she was the anoited one to be the next President and said she would not redeployed troops from Iraq until her second term. She has sinced changed her tune on Iraq, and has openly stated what her stances on the issues are.
As for me, stubborn buttheaded, I have changed also. I can not support someone who will not tell me what he will do different, and I am willing to take a second look at a candidate who has apears to say what she thinks. I leave for Europe in the morning and completed my absentee ballot this morning. It is over for me, and I ask all fellow democrats to make up your minds and vote and lets end this crap. Sen Obama I asked for the meat of the issues and got nothing so I gave you nothing in return. ISSUES are the key!
My dad was retired Navy, I am disabled Army, one brother in law is disabled Marine, one brother in law was Army National Guard, and one brother in law is a son of Navy Seal killed in Vietnam.
Having been around so many with military experience I thought everyone had some, I guess not. Most are from Yale, Harvard, Princeton, or some other big school with only civilian civil service if any.
It is always amazing to see incumbants running unopposed, and the same old coots running for office but then there are a few new faces, heck I even wrote myself in for male precinct officer since the position is unfilled. I got home and reveiwed the directions and starting filling out the ballot.
The only thing left is to fill out the circle next to Obama or Clinton name. I hope everyone has their chance to vote, it is what makes America great! We shall return on May 20th just in time to see the election results.
