YES. Did you know State & Federal Election Law works:
1. Registrations are due 30 days before an election.
2. Federal Law requires that all registrations are verified to have the correct name and I.D. # (SSN or State ID) on them.
3. If a voter registration doesn't verify, then no vote can be made.
4. Deceased and multiple voter registrations are cleaned from systems.
THE SYSTEM WORKS
Contrary to some things in the media as of late, a voter registration for a 13 year old would never make it past the system. They wouldn't be able to vote.
Why are all these new stories spinning?
Because of a fake "consumers advocate" organization, called the Consumers Rights League.
Consumers Rights League is the same "consumers advocate" organization that lobbied for deregulation of banks:
- to give loans to the poor for "community reinvestment"
- work against a Bill that would force credit card companies to have a set merchant interest rate (Visa was also against this)
- AND NOW they are lobbying against ACORN even though ACORN's voter registrations don't increase election fraud (false voting).
WHY? Because they are protecting the interests of predatory lending institutions and want Republicans in office. Democrats will cause more regulation. They in no way work for the best interests of the citizens. They work for banks. Just go to their website & look at their past reports that want greater deregulation in the name of "consumers" (listed down right side of their website). www.ConsumersRightsLeague.org
The Consumers Rights League has gotten the news out about ACORN, which Republican media grabbed onto because it's beneficial to them... to block poor, black votes (Democrat votes). They've made the public be afraid that election fraud is going on. They've made it sound like targeting groups for voter registrations is illegal, but it's not. Both parties do it. Both parties have 3rd party voter registration companies too, that submit many incorrect registrations.
CRL just got into the business of "voter protection" when they collaborated with Senate Republicans to testify at a September 24, 2008 Congressional hearing on the 2008 General Election. During that hearing two Republican Senators asked many questions about ACORN. All four Election officials that testified, said that ACORN and 3rd party voter drive groups were more of a blessing then a curse. They said they saw nothing out of the ordinary with ACORN's "fraudulent registrations". They were normal for voter drive groups. The other panel of organizations were there to protect voter rights... which included the DOJ and consumer advocates for the Military, foreclosed homeowners, new citizens, and minorities. Then there was Jim Terry from CRL. He was the odd one out. He was only there against ACORN. After that hearing (where officials said ACORN was an asset to the community) Congress ordered an FBI investigation on them. It's a terrible story of voter suppression. Just listen to the Hearing for yourself, then try to figure out from it why ACORN is being attacked (ACORN topics are discussed at hour 1:00:00 and 1:30:00). http://cha.house.gov/view_hea...
Terry committed perjury several times. So now what?
The deadlines have passed in many states for voters to register to vote, but I'm feeling pretty confident for Obama and Joe Biden. I have no solid evidence to back up any of my opinions just like noone else does, but I really believe that Obama will be our next president. I'm in a blue state so I might be a little biased, but I don't even think it's going to be a close race. Unless I'm understating the population that's racially biased against Obama, thinking he's a muslim, or is just not going to vote for a democrat ever, I think I've got fairly good reasons to believe he'll be the man. I realize there's a whole other view of this, but there's just so many things happening recently that make me believe this.
Here's why I think he's the man...
We can't forget about the rallies back in early 2008 when he was bringing 30,000 people compared to his opponents with only a couple thousand in attendance. I would assume this translates to bigger polling numbers for Obama... even if not so dramatic.
He has overcome many many media attacks starting starting back over a year ago when Fox News misquoted his name as a terrorist's name. There have been countless attacks since which he has only rebounded even stronger every time. I can't say this about the other side. Bouncing back is a great thing to have in a leader. Inspiring hope after failing is what our country deep down inside I believe is looking for after the financial mess and all the previous garbage we've went through.
Obama has created memes like "Obamaniac" which haven't been duplicated by any of the running opposition.
Interestingly, if you do a search on google for "Obama sucks" (with quotes), he has twice as many pages featuring that phrase compared to mccain. Palin has 3x as many as Joe biden does. I'm taking this as a pure measure of popularity. Obama wins this one.
If you look at crowd sourced websites that sell t-shirts and posters, they have been taken over by Obama merchandise. Palin and McCain are popular too, but if you look at the designs, they're almost all negative. Again, a larger number of designs for Obama. He's got 54,000 compared to McCain with 30,000.
Youtube has the same type of statistics going for it as well. Obama has 478,000 videos which completely trumps McCain's 278,000.
If these numbers stay this drastically different at the voting booths, it will be an easy win for Obama. Like I said... I don't think it will be that simple but there's something to be said about these large sweeping differences.
Besides actually getting out to vote next month, being REGISTERED to vote is the next most important thing we need to do.
This site has a very detailed look at each state's requirements, but here's a quick look at the deadlines for registering:

What do you think?
I have some basic beliefs that influence my opinion:
1) It is important to allow all citizens votes to count, despite mistakes made by leaders at the state government level.
2) Based on the argument of sheer ethics, it is 'right' to allow votes to count from these states despite mistakes made by the state government. It is not the fault of individuals that state officials goofed up. It would be 'wrong' in my opinion to invalidate over two million American votes that are considered 'swing state votes.'
3) I do understand that there are rules and that rules MUST be followed, however, at what cost? Americans should not be utterly represented by state government when it comes to the basic right to vote as a citizen.
The DNC should make allowances and allow the votes from Michigan and Florida to count. To do otherwise would be horrific despite the 'rules' in place.
I will reveal later in this blog what candidate I support, so please make no assumptions about exactly which candidate I support. You just might be surprised. I simply want the process to be 'fair and unbiased to all Democratic Americans.'
I would love to hear from many of you out there that have arguments on these points. I respect your opinion and I will engage you on the issues. I feel that right now, as of May 2008, our Party is much too divided, and I seek to be a small part in reuniting our party.
Here is the written text of that Radio Interview.
Leahy says Clinton should drop out of race
Friday March 28, 2008
Bob Kinzel
Montpelier, VT
(Host) Will a protracted battle between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination hurt the Party's chances of winning the November election?
Senator Patrick Leahy, who supports Obama, says the answer is yes, and he thinks Clinton should drop out of the race.
But Clinton's supporters in Vermont have a very different opinion.
VPR's Bob Kinzel reports:
(Kinzel) It's a question that's being raised in political discussions on the radio, on TV, in newspapers and in the blogs.
And the results of a new poll highlight the danger for the Democrats if their presidential primary contest gets any nastier.
According to a new Gallup poll, 28% of Hillary Clinton's supporters say they'd vote for GOP candidate John McCain if Barack Obama wins the Democratic nomination and 19% of Obama's supporters say they'd vote for McCain if Clinton is the Party's nominee.
Senator Patrick Leahy, who's a super delegate supporting Obama, is clearly worried about this situation:
(Leahy) "I am very concerned. John McCain, who has been making one gaffe after another, is getting a free ride on it because Senator Obama and Senator Clinton have to fight with each other. I think that her criticism is hurting him more than anything John McCain has said. I think that's unfortunate."
(Kinzel) Leahy says it's virtually impossible for Clinton to win more elected delegates than Obama, and as a result, he thinks it's time for her to accept defeat:
(Leahy) "There is no way that Senator Clinton is going to win enough delegates to get the nomination. She ought to withdraw and she ought to be backing Senator Obama. Now, obviously that's a decision that only she can make. Frankly I feel that she would have a tremendous career in the Senate."
(Kinzel) Former Governor Madeleine Kunin is the co-chair of the Clinton campaign in Vermont. She thinks Leahy is dead wrong on this issue:
(Kunin) "It is premature, to tell her to drop out now is just unfair because it isn't over. Admittedly, it's tough for Senator Clinton to get a majority of the delegates but it's not over till it's over. It seems a bit patronizing to tell her 'Honey, you know you've got to drop out for the good of the Party.' Sure it's not easy, but I think the process has to go forward as it was designed to go."
(Kinzel) And Kunin thinks, in the end, the Democrats will unite behind one of these candidates:
(Kunin) "I think both Democratic candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton know that what everybody wants in the Democratic party is a winner and some of this is just inevitable. But I think they will unite and I'm confident that judging by the turnout at every democratic primary which has been unprecedented that Democrats will do very well in November."
(Kinzel) It's likely that roughly 800 super delegates will ultimately decide this race. Vermont has 7 super delegates - five are supporting Obama, one is backing Clinton and one person - former governor and now D.N.C. chairman Howard Dean is neutral.
For VPR News, I'm Bob Kinzel in Montpelier.
Again he raises a good question she is behind in both the Popular Votes and Delegates no matter what happens she cannot win .
Also realize the longer this battle goes on Sneator McCain gets a free ride to campaign without a Democrat that is able to just focus on McCain .
Senator Leahy is just speaking the truth and people should stop and listen to what he is saying.
If Obama were behind and Hillary had 30 States in the bag I would say the same thing for Senator Obama but this is not the way it is .
So lets all Unite stop fighting each other and support Senator Obama and that means you Senator Clinton for the good of the Party in November .
Greetings:
The Political Machine and our country's President has been of intense interest to me since I was five years old. I would sit silently beside my father as we listened with reverence to every single word spoken by Walter Cronkite. In our home, the "CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite" was as familiar and comforting to us as the daily dinner blessing.
My father has long since died, and his wrapup of the day's newsworthy events, spoken only during commericals or after Mr. Cronkite had bid us goodnight with..."And that's the way it is..." takes me back to a comforting and beautiful time in my life. It is this comforting feeling which brings me to my point.
There was turmoil in the world then--plenty of it. I am much older now with two adult children. Two of my brothers proudly served in Vietnam, and we worried about them the way we now must pray for our military in Iraq. Sitting with my father--religiously watching the evening news until I turned 18, and without him when he died, shaped me into a perpetual student of the Political Machine. Discerning everything as I watch politicians; from hand gestures which indicate deception, to grimaces, narrowing of the eyes, and voice inflections has taught me who is true and good and who is selfish and power hungry. I listen to their words and how they say them. What is said is important but not nearly as important as how it is said...voice speak. And I find out as much as I can about the candidate.
Senator Obama exemplifies a true leader, good and true. One need not rip experience, friends, perceived intentions, statements and even unintentional mistatements to shreds to flesh out the truth. Having the right President at the Right time is so important that one cannot be deceived by rocket-fire words that only serve to confuse and condemn. One should listen carefully and watch the candidate as they speak. Ask vital questions? Envision sitting with the candidate and having a true conversation about your needs and desires for the country, and image really having a listener who cares across the table? Would you get political habitry of nods and inappropriate, pasted smiles?
It is my opinion that I would get sincere responses from Senator Obama, without the rhetoric of a quick fix to my individual problems, but responses that would exemplify that in the solution to the great number of America's problems is contained the solution to my own.
Senator Obama is the one who gives me that "comfort." I am an independent, strong-willed woman living in Florida, and what the Pundits say about how we feel is not true. They can't possibly know. I was told the Florida Primary would not count, so rather than driving back from a day trip to vote I decided to get ready for November and cast my vote for Senator Obama. "Surely he will be the Democratic Nominee," so I felt no need to drive for several hours to not have it count.
I certainly will be disappointed if in November Senator Obama is not our Nominee. If it were anyone other than Senator Clinton in opposition, the Democratic leadership would have told the dissenter to "go away" months ago. This charade is favoritism at its best when women are screaming to be treated equal. We are strong enough to take it that Obama is best to serve America. Forget treating the "woman" special or look like bullies. We, of both genders and all races are smart enough to know what we want.
Is fear what we are witnessing? Has the woman scared the Democratic Party? Poor things...where's the backbone? My father, if he were alive today, would probably shake his head in disbelief that in 2008 we still can't face the truth.
Where is Walter Cronkite when we need him to give us comfort that tomorrow he will be there to see us through this fray. In my opinion, Keith Olberman is closest to Mr. Cronkite's ability to teach, as he is unbiased and passionate about the truth. We need more intelligence like his in the media.
It is time for this madness to end and an embracing of our Democratic Nominee, Senator Obama!
The American voter is not stupid, and we know the difference between one who is filled with self interest and flapping about wildly in efforts to get attention, while we, intelligent voters, know the tricks to distract from the truth. If this were not the most important election in our country's history, it would be laughable. Then we have the quiet calm of a pro, who confidently reaches us..driven with purpose. I want the calm, talented, confident, insightful visionary to lead us out of unemployment, the housing crisis, Iraq, healthcare deficiencies or lack thereof, and hatred...and that person is Senator Barack Obama.
Thank you Democratic Party. Party Leaders, please end the foolishness that is insulting to my intelligence as an informed voter.

"ELECTION ACTIVIST FILES CRIMINAL CHARGES AGAINST WASHOE COUNTY REGISTRAR DANIEL BURK WITH WASHOE COUNTY SHERIFF
"For Immediate release: 04/13/07
Contact: P. Axelrod 775-787-1909
Election activist, Patricia Axelrod, has filed criminal charges with the Washoe County Sheriff's Department against the County's Registrar of Voters, Daniel Burk. Axelrod has been investigating Nevada and Washoe County election and voter registration practices since 2004 and she has repeatedly and publicly asserted Washoe County 2004 and 2006 election wrongdoing. October 25, 2006 she filed a product defect lawsuit against the manufacturer of Nevada's voting machines â" Sequoia Voting Machines. Axelrod alleges that Registrar Burk has unlawfully destroyed 2006 Election Day precinct voter intake records called 'Voted History Listings' in an attempt to hide Washoe County election malfeasance and also that he threatened her with bodily harm by stating that she was going to 'end up in the hospital' in retaliation for her criticism of his office as well as the County's voting machines. Nevada law defines harassment as a misdemeanor and destruction of election records as a felony. The Washoe County Sheriff's Department has assigned Axelrod's charges with Case #WC07-1944 and Deputy Don Patch is investigating the matter. Axelrod expects the Deputy to conclude his effort next week.
Axelrod claims that Burk's threat came about in the course of an extremely contentious and argumentative meeting between Burk, and Washoe County Commissioner Pete Sferrazza and her that took place on February 13 in the Washoe County Commissioner's private meeting room. The activist says that Sferrazza convened the meeting as a tactic to gain Axelrod's agreement not to name Washoe County as a defendant in her lawsuit. As she had in the past, Axelrod once again charged Burk with lying and destroying election records to over up Washoe County election malfeasance. According to Axelrod, it was towards the end of the meeting when Sferrazza left the room to copy 3 pages of a document listing thousands of Washoe County voters as 'Unsure Voters' â" something Burk claimed to have no knowledge of - that the Registrar issued his threat against her.
As Axelrod relates the incident, "Burk and I were left alone glowering across the table at each other. I looked at Burk and said to him, 'I know what you're up to. You don't care who gets elected. Democrat or Republican. As long as this county's corrupt old boy network stays in power!' To wit Burk replied his face contorted with anger, 'You're going to end up in the hospital.' And I said, 'Are you threatening me?'
Without hesitation Burk repeated 'You're going to end up in the hospital'. A second later Sferrazza came back into the room and I told him that Burk had threatened me by telling me that I was going to end up in the hospital. Laughably, Burk countered that he was only expressing "concern for my health because I was working so hard that I was sure to end up in the hospital." February 14, Axelrod reported Burk's threat and other wrong doing to Washoe County Assistant District Attorney Herb Kaplan who took no action but advised the activist to report the matter to law enforcement. Following the DA's advise Axelrod filed charges against Burk with the Sheriff's Dept."
