New 2008 Democratic Primary Voters Are The
Key to Election Protection

Michael Collins
"Scoop" Independent News

(Wash. DC)  There's one major obstacle blocking a theft of the 2008 presidential election.  It's highly significant and challenges even the most devious minds.   That obstacle is "net new" Democratic primary voters in 2008.  "Net new" Democratic primary voters represent the difference between primary turnout in 2004 and 2008.  More on that in a moment.

Let's not forget about those other branches of government. Yes, who Barack Obama picks as his VP is an important decision. I mean, we can ask Dick Cheney about executive power.

But still, there are things we can do now to change Congress. Come on now. Let's not forget about that branch of government Barack Obama will need on his side to get the job done as President next year.

I have been an Obama supporter starting from before he became popular. Just as I had predicted Barack’s current success I have recently predicted that the cost of oil and it’s effects would become priority number one with
voters. And it will, trust me! We must be willing to, while giving as much attention to environmental concerns as reasonably possible, explore for oil, coal, and natural gas immediately. We must retrieve and process our fossil fuels as soon as we can while frantically developing alternative energy sources with which to power our industry, motor vehicles and homes. Unfortunately, Mr. Bush and Mr. McCain have beaten Barack and the rest of our party to this unavoidable common sense approach. Barack will ultimately loss the election if he does not realize and act on the fact that our economy is presently and for the near future entirely dependant upon affordable and available fossil fuels and their derivatives. If we don’t act now we may not have the ability to research and develop the needed technologies to make us independent of these fossil fuels. The looming energy crises will put us into the basic survival mode, and the means for such activities will not be available as they currently are. Unless Barack and the rest of the Democrats get on board, the Republicans will continue to run things. Why can’t the Democratic party use some common sense. Why is it always one extreme or the other? It's embarrassing. To the Democrats I beg,… Please wake up??????? We need to get our nation back!
I am a white 61 year old Vietnam vet and a retired building trades union supervisor who retired out of the engineering department at my last job. I am just trying to say many smart common sense people like myself (all races and colors) who want Barack to win and to have a couple of successful terms in office are very concerned that he has not picked up on this. I share many of his views and would like to see a prosperous period where we are not so preoccupied with the fossil fuel crises that we can't implement the needed policies etc. I pray for the sake of our party that Barack and the rest of the party quickly become aware of the gravity closing the door to the immediate pursuit of our reserves will have. This is one of the few mistakes we can make that will allow the Republicans to stay in office, and we are very likely currently making it.

HIS STANCE ON THE IRAQ WAR FROM DAY ONE

The IRAQ War is the largest issue. Americans get the direct connection between the Iraq war and our economy.  The war was a mistakeand finally 70% of Americans now know this.  Obama spoke out against the War BEFORE Congress voted to give Bush permission to "use force against Iraq."  Obama is better positioned to take on McCain on the Iraq war. Also, unlike Hillary, Obama voted for limiting the use of cluster bombs in Iraq.

HIS PROMISE TO CLEAR OUT DC LOBBYISTS--MOST AMERICANS ARE FED UP WITH DC LOBBYISTS AND SEE THEM AS A HUGE PART OF THE CORRUPTION AND BUSINESS AS USUAL IN DC

Lobbyists and their corrupt manipulation of our lawmakers is another huge issue with the American people.  John McCain's campaign leadership was saturated with them.  Obama, as well as Edwards, have made their positions clear about the 35,000 lobbyists in Congress.  They have said they will work to rid our nation's capital of them.  Hillary has said that DC lobbyists are "just fine" and that they represent people just like us.  Well they don't. Lobbyists represent the CEOs and shareholders of corporations--not employees who do the work. Any American with two IQ points understands that.  There are of course a few exceptions such as labor union lobbyists.

Hillary can't get the nomination. She needs to drop out of this race so her supporters have time to lick their wounds and get involved in defeating McCain this fall. If you are an independent, or a Clinton supporter, I invite your opinion here as to how we should weild the power of our base in November. As individuals, it's time to start thinking about who you will vote for in that election.

Here's what I think:

What is there to think about? Look at the last 8 years. As a citizen, the reality is that your choice is simple and options are limited. We simply can't afford to argue back and forth forever. Before you know it, it will be the day after election day and we will have to live with our choices.

Choose one of three:

A. McCain - more of the same neocon nonsense

B. Obama - a liberal-leaning candidate who can win

C. don't vote/vote 3rd party - passing the buck to other voters

You don't need 5 months to think about it. The obvious answer is B. Brush that chip off your shoulder and get on board. We need you!
I know Florida and Michigan's votes dont officially count. But shouldnt the party pay attention to how many people overall have voted for each candidate? With 25% of Hillary's voters saying they will vote for Mccain should Obama win this is an important statistic to look at.
The overall popular vote count puts Hillary ahead by 121,943 votes. She is expected to slam Puerto Rico and has about a 35% lead in the polls in Kentucky. She could win Indiana also. This should show the supes that overall the voters want Hillary.
Hillary is our rose, thorn's and all.She has spent her adult life working for decent human rights for women and children here and all over the world.Yet many of the women of our country have turned their backs on her.
Yes she has faults, but her opponent also has many.We all know Hillary's,but Obama's keep trickling out of the closet weekly.
The working class, the backbone of this country, support Hillary.Generals and Admirals support Senator Clinton, yet many women say well I dont like her.Like? Lets judge her on her lifetime of working for us.This is not american idol, this is american life.We need someone who is strong, capable, and will have great support around her.
Hillary won another big state last night by 10% after being outspent and out advertised.
One of the cable news networks spoke to a couple of Mccains advisors and they said Hillary would be much harder to beat in the general election. An MSNBC poll shown last night states 25% of Hillary supporters will vote for Mccain if Obama wins.I believe that to be true as myself and a number of people I have spoken to say the same thing.
If this party does not fix the mess they created with Michigan and Florida we will again have a republican president.
With Michigan and Florida Hillary will be ahead in the popular vote and closer in delegates. With a few more states won in the next couple months, probably very big wins in Puerto Rico and Kentucky, the super delegates would have to swing her way.
The Obama crowd has been pushing the will of the people at the supers for some time now.The will of the people is turning to Hillary.
Every week there is at least one article --- Obama beats Clinton in new poll... Clinton trails Obama against McCain in new poll... Clinton beats Obama in new poll on economy....Obama beats Clinton in new poll on war...

blah blah blah

Here's this week's announcement

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23918341/

This one was interesting to me because it addresses Ohio and Florida as two key states in the General election. In the end I think Michigan will be the key state this time around, but I don't disagree that these two states are critical for a democratic win in November.

So I ask... What do you think of this article? does it change your mind about which candidate you support? why or why not?

Personally, it made me think. It doesn't change my mind about who I support but it did make me look a little closer as to why I support them.   Read More »
I think McCain has the strategy the democrats should be adopting. Assume a democrat will win, agreeing together on issues against McCain. Gang up on him, move ahead together and look back. Use debates against each other as opportunities to agree on common goals of the Democratic Party against the Republicans. Be composed together. Show good tactics as a team would in a cross country race. Go 1 and 2. Make the race now. If the Democrats don't move out together now, they might get too far behind. Don't wait. GO! Show us your strengths as a Democratic party, stepping on common ground as you run, two Democrats as a part of a party of people who DON'T want more of the same thieving, abusive, disrespectful, selfish, money hungry, stupidity. Sorry, I'm kinda pissed I keep taking pay cuts while my money is worth less, and watching people running off with my money and selling my country.
My State, The swing state of Iowa will go blue, I doesnt matter who is on the ballot, WE WILL WIN IOWA.

Hopefully you guys feel the same about your state. No matter if you are in Mass. or Utah, for our respective presidential candidate to win, we need a large infrastructure and a competitive base in all states. That means all 50, that also means the Virgin Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico, and of course our many citizens living, working and serving abroad.

More about my state...

In 2006 Democrats won the Governorship, both state houses and 2 more congressional seats (we have 3 of 5). In January we hosted the first in the nation caucus, where 50,000 Independants and non-voters registered Democrat to the Republicans 4,000. Obama won by an easy margin in what turned out to be the largest democratic turnout ever.

Here is some info on my state, I would also like to hear about yours!   Read More »
Who among us can resist Obama’s boyish charm, oratorical flourishes, the “messianic” crowds that follow him everywhere and his message of unity and hope? I know I can’t. When I was younger, I couldn’t resist men who have a certain “savoir faire”, a “master of the universe” attitude towards their present and a “manifest destiny” outlook towards their future. I was the plodding student, the one who did her homework, who obsessed about her grades, who prepared for contingencies real and far-fetched and was grateful when disaster did not strike. I took nothing for granted. So, of course, I was attracted to men who seemed unchained by mortal constraints and unfettered by doubt. Twenty-five years later, I see the world differently. As my husband can attest, not only do I want a man who claims to know power tools but a man who can wield them, a man who not only knows where to buy the groceries but who knows what should be on the grocery list and where they should be stored in the pantry. I am less impressed by professed skill sets, best-laid plans, and home improvement ambitions as I am in his proven ability to fix the leaky toilet, manage roof contractors and keep the family fed and in clean clothes in my absence. These are the unglamorous, tedious and thankless chores that sustain a “marriage” and maintain a household. In three long decades of painstaking attention to details, dogged persistence and political nimbleness, Sen. Hillary Clinton has shown that she can breathe life and form to the ideals that she and Sen. Obama espouse on the campaign trail. Sen. Obama may have these qualities as well but his mettle has not been forged in the crucible of the national political arena -- a forum that often rewards perception at the expense of substance, unforgiving of the slightest missteps and susceptible to “me-too” stampedes. Flirt, date and be swept away by Sen. Obama but in the end, bring Sen. Clinton home to your parents and marry her because she will help us put food on the table, clothes on our backs, a roof over our heads and give our children the chance to grow up in the America of Sen. Obama’s dreams.
I, of course, can't say for sure; but I CAN tell you that my brother-in-law, who has been faithfully voting and registered as a Republican---even voting for Bush both times is changing his tune. So who is the Red State Republican going to vote for this year?

I asked him who he was supporting for president, McCain or Huckerbee; and he said, "I like Obama. I'm probably going to vote for him." He also said he simply could not vote for Hillary because of Bill's antics as president.

Needless to say I was shocked; but, at the same time, I was not that surprised. He has seen what the last eight years of Republicanism has done to America; and, in spite of his STRONG "pro life" stance is looking at the Democratic party as being more ethical than the Republicans.

In the past any time I said anything negative about a Republican or positive about a Democrat, he reacted very negatively toward it.

We may actually win more Red states than we expect.

How to Vote for Peace, Against the Patriot Act, and Win Elections

by John Stauber

Only one U.S. Senator had the courage and the commitment to civil liberties to vote against the Patriot Act in the weeks after the terror attacks of 9/11. Pop quiz, quick, name that Senator! If you said the late Sen. Paul Wellstone, you'd be wrong. Even the feisty progressive from Minnesota failed to oppose John Ashcroft's attack on civil liberties sold as essential to fight Bush's war on terror.

The lone opponent of the Patriot Act was Sen. Russ Feingold of Wisconsin, Wellstone's colleague across the Mississippi River.

Fast forward to the fall of 2002 and the run-up to Bush's war on Iraq. Democratic senators, including Hillary Clinton, Tom Daschle, John Edwards and John Kerry all voted to give President Bush the authority to attack Saddam Hussein. Russ Feingold voted against the war. I spoke at the time with a Feingold staff member who worried that these two votes would doom Feingold in his 2004 race for re-election. "We'll be bashed viciously as weak on terror and anti-war, they'll trash us mercilessly and it will cost Russ his race."

Probably just what advisors to Kerry and Edwards were thinking. Indeed, Feingold's 2004 opponent Republican Tim Michels, a millionaire construction company owner and a former US Army Ranger, beat three Republicans to win his party's nomination. Michels dumped over a million dollars of his own money into an aggressive advertising campaign skewering Feingold as weak on terror and not supportive of the troops. However, when the polls closed at 8 PM on November 2nd, with no votes even counted yet, all the major media declared the race over and predicted Feingold's victory based on the exit polls alone.

John Kerry voted for the Patriot Act and the war, and was barely beating George Bush in Wisconsin. Russ Feingold proves that an anti-war, populist Democrat, a maverick campaigning to get big money out of politics, can win and win big. But given a choice between a real Republican and a Democrat such as John Kerry who voted for the war, many voters will choose the Republican.

How can progressives build a movement for power that wins elections and changes the current disastrous course of our country? Sheldon Rampton and I examine the rise of the Right in our somewhat prescient book Banana Republicans: How the Right Wing is Turning America into a One-Party State. On November 2nd, despite the massive mobilization by liberal groups and funders, the Right tightened its one-party control of all branches of the federal government. Russ Feingold, the lone dissenter against the Patriot Act, the independent midwesterner who fought and won against the leadership of his own party on campaign finance reform, the hard core opponent of the war on Iraq and unflinching supporter of the troops, shows that there is a way to win with principles, civility, courage and conviction.
