Hillary is Back - what do we think?

So Hillary is in as Sec. of State and Obama is finishing up the last of his picks for his staff, yet I can't help but feel a little uneasy about Hillary as a choice. I know that she has the experience that will make sure she makes good decisions in high tension situations, but for someone that ran such a venomous campaign I can't help but think she is out to represent herself more than the policy of Obama. I mean after all, her job is really to bring the Obama message when he is not able to do it himself and in situations she would be better equipped to do it. Do we think that Hillary is really going go to drop her agenda and work for the president? One has to wonder that she is able to swallow a little pride and handle that. What do you think?

Now 4 months later, Hillary is putting her mouth where her money is and supporting Obama.

QUEEN’S COMMENTS ON Hillary’s New Enthusiasm for Obama

Of all places, I read in the Jarkarta Post last night that Clinton is recruiting her backers to help Obama. According to the Jarkata Post, Hillary Rodham Clinton is stepping up efforts to swing her supporters behind Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, her former rival for the nomination. In an outreach dubbed “Hillary Sent Me,” the New York senator was inviting her primary-season partisans Friday to get involved directly in Obama’s campaign and donate to it. As part of that, she was urging them to travel to a specific battleground state each weekend, beginning with New Hampshire on Sept. 27, when she will be campaigning for Obama in Michigan.

“This is a call to action. This is a must-do. We all have a role. And there is not a moment to lose.”

And why this Johnnie-come-lately enthusiasm for Obama?

McCain's V.P. Choice

After months of slamming Barack Obama for "inexperience," here's who John McCain has chosen to be one heartbeat away from the presidency: a right-wing religious conservative with no foreign policy experience, who until recently was mayor of a town of 9,000 people.

Huh?

Who is Sarah Palin? Here's some basic background:

She was elected Alaska's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience. (1)

Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest. (2)

She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. (3)

Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools. (4)

She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change. (5)

Hillary 2012

Now that the dust has settled in Denver, and all the kool aid was drunk. with McCains pick for VP it is now even clearer what a mistake Obama made by NOT picking Hillary as his running Mate. Us Hillary fans who can NOT and will NOT bring our selves to vote for Obama we now have the Opportunity to help smash the glass ceiling that we helped Hillary, put those 18 million cracks in.
I have been a strick democrat since 1981, have donate much money to Democratic causes. this will be MY first year of NOT voting for the democrat on the ticket. This is the beaty of free speach adn voting our hearts adn councious that we DON NOT have to vote because we are told to.
When I found out that a fellow Michgan delegate was removed from the convention by obama's staff because They DID NOT want to VOTE for OBAMA and would rather vote for McCain. this shows me how Sen Obama DOES NOT believe in Free speech if you DO NOT agree with him.
HIS Policies and votes show how much of a risk he really is. he DOES not gaurantee he will place any other types of Supreme court justices any better than BUSH.
The Party officals of Dean adn pelosi are not any better, Ms Pelosi has handed President BUSH EVERYTHING he wanted adn more on a silver platter. she has NEVER stood up againgst him and will probally fight back on Obama's plans over Bush's/ What a SHAME.
This is why I WILL write in Hillary os not a vote for McCainbut as A VOTE AGAINGST Mr OBAMA and the DNC.
If More people did this it woud Show the leaders of the DNC that we will NOT just DRINK the Koolaid and tell us to vote for the candidate no matter how bad they may be because of a back room deal made in 2004 with Obama.

campaign themes are important

Themes are important to the continuity and the success of any campaign--regardless the product that is being advertised. I believe that one of the primary reasons why Hillary's campaign failed was because its theme of "experience" and inevitability.

"Experience" was not a theme that resonated well with the American people this year. Experience translated to many Americans as meaning "more of the same old Washington politics." Another thing about theme that any copywriter will tell you is that it must be consistent or the consumer will become muddled in regard to your brand. Obama began with the theme of Change and he continues with that theme. His theme is very very strong and very much associated with the Obama brand.

McCain? Anyone know what his theme is? I think it is security, but I'm not certain. Securitiy is another theme that is not too popular this year as it is very much tied to Iraq and the awful failure that represents for the American people.

What This Election Is Really About: Conservatives vs. Progressives

The following post discusses what I think is the REAL elephant in our living room that no one is discussing:

In my opinion, and I'm sure others may disagree as well as agree since this is after all a democracy, I think that the bottom line for this election is really about wrestling our government out of the hands of conservatives and into the hands of progressives--and that includes conservative Democrats as well as conservative Republicans.

Our Democratic Party has its own unofficial conservative wing--the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) of which both Clintons have been very active over the years. By my standards, based on much of the legislation that they have supported, neither Bill nor Hillary Clinton are "progressive democrats". I would categorize both of them as conservative Democrats.

I have a lifetime of experience in the financial industry and I can tell you for certain that bankers have no greater friend than Bill Clinton.

FED UP WITH THE DOUBLE STANDARD

The double standard I speak of is the Hillary standard vs. the standard of the rest of the world. Yes there is sexism. And yes it raised its ugly head agains Hillary in this campaign.

But Hillary lost, not because of sexism as many such as Sascha Millstone would like to pertetuate and present Hillary as some martyr. Hillary lost because of her campaign strategy and the devisiveness within her own camp. To say that she lost because of sexism is in my opinion an insult to women and a discouragement to young girls in particular. Hillary lost specifically because of her strategy, not sexism.

Sacha Millstone the delegate in CO blames Barack Obama and party leaders for not rallying to Clinton's defense. And she slams them for trying to nudge the former first lady out of the race. "That never would have happened if she were a man."

Barack Supporters should give to HillaryClinton.com

I am not one of the 18,000,000 Hillary supporters, but I am only one person who deeply believes that Hillary sparked a flame within the democratic national will. Therefore, I will be contributing money to HillaryClinton.com to help retire her considerable debt, and would hope that other Barack supporters will do the same. Please give whatever you can. Mrs Clinton deserves the support of us all as a charge of not only defeating the Republicans in November, but her campaign was a prodigy for the hopes of 18,000,000 democrats. Please give.
McCain's Foreign Policy

How many times does McCain have to misspeak before we are allowed to call him an old fuddy-duddy? I realize most Americans don't know Shia from Sunni, or where the Pakistani border is, or even if Czechoslovakia is still a country? Or even how to spell Czechoslovakia! But if you are running for President of the most powerful country on earth, and your claim to fame is that you are an expert on Foreign Policy, then it matters that you seem to confuse a lot of these items.

So what is it, Senator McCain? Are you fibbing to us about your Foreign Policy cred? Or are you just showing your age? Whatever it is, I don't think you have a leg to stand on complaining about Senator Obama's lack of Foreign Policy experience.

When Obama set off on his latest foreign tour, the pundits were talking about the risks that he might make a Foreign Policy gaffe because he is so inexperienced. Looks like they should have worried more about McCain's propensity to muddle things. He is actually making Bush look coherent by comparison.

But the ditto heads keep plugging McCain because Obama is such a risk.

The risk for all of us is the world will hurt themselves from laughing so hard if McCain gets elected and then blame all of us. And we get stuck with uncle Fester for four years.

So all of you who are more interested in your silly bickering would be better advised to heed Hillary and Bill's advice and get to working on getting Obama elected as well as working towards a strong Democratic majority in Congress, or the joke is on you as well.

PUMAS claim to have given Hillary Millions over July 4

Perhaps the money that people are pouring in to retire Hillary's debt is being diverted to her senate campaign instead. That might explain a lot.

"Will Bower announced on Sheri Tag’s Blogtalk Radio Show that PUMA members raised anywhere from $6 to $10 million for her over the July 4th weekend.

Exact numbers are not in because apparently the Clinton campaign was unaware of the PUMA push and some of the contribution buttons were changed over to her Senate campaign not 24hrs beforehand.

If you did donate to retire Hillary’s debt, I suggest you contact the Clinton campaign and make sure that your donation went to the right place. They have to be very clear of your specific intentions to divert the funds to the right place!"

What is more important Hillary's new hairstyle or Obama's speach

Evidently based on the press coverage, the media thinks that during a presidential election year, it is more important to talk about Hillary's new hairstyle and the fact that it is parted to the right vs. the left than the important speech Obama gave on security. His speech talked about what he would do to make us safer, unlike the GOP (Going Out Pouting) and McSame who wants to keep us scared.
Obama has talked about a timeline of withrawl. He talked about talking to Iran. Bush said talking to Iran was "apeasement". McSame said Obama is wrong about a timeline, that he must do what the military leaders on the ground say. HMMMM did you hear that Bush and Iraq talked about a "time horizon" for troop withdrawl? Sounds like a fancy way of saying TIMELINE. Did anyone catch the news that the third hightest ranking diplomat in the State Dept. will be at a meeting with Iraq's nuclear negotiator?
Sounds like Obama knows more about foreign policy than what Bush and McSame and their talking heads are saying in the press.
Did anyone notice in Obama's speech that he wants to make sure rouge organizations (not countries) are stopped from getting WMDs. Why didn't the press report that he will make sure the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty is ratified and enforced along with meeting with Russia about cutting even more nuclear weapons. Making us secure by getting rid of nucs that our enemies could get hold of. Doesn't sound like a bad idea. I wonder how long until Bush acts on it and McSame takes credit for the idea. But no the press would rather talk about Brad and Angelina's twins and if Madonna is the reason why A-Rod's marriage broke up. Where is their priority. Thank God for BBC News, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and the web.

Clinton distances herself from anti-Obama Hillraiser

Hillary has distanced herself from Ricki Lieberman
"Also a former Clinton "Hillraiser" (meaning she raised more than $100,000 for the campaign), Lieberman is keeping her own private hope alive with a daily email blast to supporters, entitled "Electability Watch," which features a cascade of negative articles and other items about Obama as a means to argue that superdelegates should change their minds in Denver and crown Clinton the nominee instead.

A spokesperson for Sen. Clinton implicitly distanced the candidate from Lieberman's effort, telling the Huffington Post: "Senator Clinton fully supports Senator Obama. She continues to urge all of her supporters to get behind him. ... She continues to do everything she can to rally folks behind him. We don't support any effort that doesn't."

Still, Lieberman presses on each and every day with her emails, signing off each one with an exhortation for her audience to "GO GO GO!!!" in their efforts to contact and persuade superdelegates. While Lieberman would not reveal the number of people on her list, she bragged in one email that her organization is "beginning to reach SDs [superdelegates] thousands of times a week."

SOURCE:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/16/clinton-distances-herself_n_113094.html

Perhaps a Turn in the Tide?

We can hope. I know I know, one rose does not a summer make, but still we can celebrate the rose. It felt good to call and leave messages with Cornyn and Hutchison (not that this changes my vote for Rick Noreiga) and thank them for their vote for medicare. I didn't rub it in that I was thanking them for vetoing Bush. It doesn't hurt to be tactful once in a while--even to Republicans. :)

Just so you know that I'm not getting carried away, however and completely turning a new leaf, I'm not about to call Joe Lieberman and thank him even if he did vote to override Bush on this one.

And the other rose (there were two) was Barbara Boxer. Right after the vote she made a 15 minute talk about demanding that the oil companies use the over 60 million acres of leased land before even thinking about drilling in the oceans along our coastlines. I hope the Senate will push back hard on Bush against this one.

And one last tribute. Here is a hug for Hillary for showing up and voting to override Bush's mean-spirited veto of this medicare bill. Be sure and call Hillary and thank her for her vote.

And if there are some of you Obama fans who have been looking for a reason to give money to Hillary, her vote today is as good a reason as any.

Reports of Mosque Surveillance Concerns Muslims

http://religion.info/english/articles/article_385.shtml

While there have been allegations in the past of government investigation of mosques on issues relating to terrorism, the recent report, first featured in the San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper, is said to be the first confirmation that surveillance is taking place.

An article in the Los Angeles Times (May 29) reports that information about the alleged spying surfaced in a case about classified files concerning terrorism that were stolen from a secure office used by military and civilian law enforcement officials at Camp Pendleton. Some of these classified records referred to the surveillance of Muslim communities in Southern California, specifically, the Islamic Center of San Diego. The records alleged that the mosque had been monitored as part of a federal surveillance program targeting Muslim groups, according to the Union-Tribune article.
