Congress needs to help auto industry but...

...they also need to pass a "public works" bill right away so that we can start on the road to recovery. Also, presz-elect needs to stop worrying too much about SoS position and start announcing economic and treasury sec. positions right away. He needs to start announcing a fiscal policy agenda that he will put in place once he is in office. These things needs to be done right away or we will be in a "depression" by xmas! This isn't fear mongering but real world situation. Current prez has checked-out and punted already, so the ball is the Obama team territory now. And the Bush team has downed the ball at the Obama team's 1 yard line. Now Mr. quarterback (Prez Obama) it is up to you to lead team U.S.A. up the field with :30 on the clock. Can you do it, Sir? I believe you are the only quarterback in the world who can! Please make it happen.

PA-05: McCracken for Congress -- Staying Positive with a Message of Hope and Change

There really isn't a lot left to say as we head into the final 24 hours of the campaign. First, and most important, Kelly, Amanda and I want to thank everyone who has helped in any way with the campaign. The one thing I will take away from this experience, regardless of the outcome on Tuesday, is the people I've met, the communities I've visited and the stories we've shared.

It has also been encouraging how many people have stepped up over the last 2 weeks to help with donations to the campaign. Once our opponent got desperate and decided to go negative there were many people and organizations who stepped up and sent in late donations. These late donations allowed us to expand our media advertising and create a second TV ad to combat the distortions coming from our opponent's campaign.

Why Barack is Winning

I just read this entire article and although it is long it is something that everyone should read. By reading this you can calm down and see the direction that Obama is trying to bring to this country and the civility that is his mission to restore. I think the last paragraph of the article sums it up best:

"Even more remarkable, Obama has made race â€" that perennial, gaping American wound â€" an afterthought. He has done this by introducing a quality to American politics that we haven't seen in quite some time: maturity. He is undoubtedly as ego-driven as everyone else seeking the highest office â€" perhaps more so, given his race, his name and his lack of experience. But he has not been childishly egomaniacal, in contrast to our recent baby-boomer Presidents â€" or petulant, in contrast to his opponent. He does not seem needy. He seems a grown-up, in a nation that badly needs some adult supervision."

A stunning piece that brings hope and joy to all that see what Obama is trying to do.

Here is the full article:
Who is more hopeful than an Obama supporter? A Cubs fan!!! And I happen to be both! So, I'm wearing my hopes on my (short)sleeve and have created this t-shirt.... hoping others will too. Cubs in October, Obama in November.

Please check out my t-shirt... maybe even order one. I appreciate any help in promoting my t-shirts. Of course a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Obama's campaign!!

Go Cubbies! Go Obama!
HOPE!

It seems to me that some of our members and visitors are falling into the Main Stream Media's (MSM) trap of trying to destroy the hope we have in Barack Obama and the hope and belief that we have in our campaign. Barack has stated many times that he is not a perfect man, and will not be a perfect president. He has also stated that we the people will disagree with some of his actions and positions. Barack also said that it's ok to amicably disagree as you work towards compromise and consensus.

Before turning against Barack for some of his policies or for what the MSM is reporting as a change, I ask that you stop and think about three things:
-The big picture of where our nation may head if McCain becomes our president;
-The future of our children and grandchildren with promises of war and fear mongering;
-The continuation of a divided and disrespected nation.

Barack Obama has already made many significant changes to our nation:
*The electoral process has been forever changed by creating a campaign for and by the people instead of lobbyists, big business and special interests groups;
*Turning the so-called red or blue states into purple states with a 50-state strategy;
*Noticibly different energy policies that care for the long-range health and well being of the human race and it's people;
*Guiding we the people to come together to make a difference in our own worlds by taking control, care, and responsibility for our selves, families, communities, states, and this campaign.

Ultimately, this campaign is not about Barack Obama, it's about WE THE PEOPLE. Do you really believe that you would have the opportunity to change our world through the politics and policies of any other candidate???

To Believe or Not to Believe, the Audacity of Hope

How often do we ask for our Daily Bread to be given and really believe that it will be done because it already is in motion according to devine law? Not really Obamistic blogging just reciting a mantra for change in my personal life. But isn't this election all about change for most Americans? It's about change and new beginnings, change and new life injected into the lifeless This is an election about "hope"...For so many of us it's about having the opportunity offered to compete with the best and to become the best we possibly can in all areas of our life. Barack Obama offers this hope and it is up to all of us to get that message out from those on the fence and even a few on the other side. What are your strategies to reach out? I've got my ears to the ground...

Sharing HOPE with my DNC Friends

Once in a while I stumble across a site that is so wonderful and encouraging in terms of what people are doing on the behalf of Democracy, our nation and the world that I want to grab everyone I meet by the lapels and say GO HERE. Wait until you see all the great things that the people of the USA are doing.

There are signs of poliitical life all over our nation. People are really standing up and saying no and voting in their state legislatures in support of their no.

The New Rules Project, Designing Rules as if Communiity Matters, is one of these sites. New Rules is a project of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance.

I am not a libertarian, but I am a Democrat who agrees with about 50% of what Libertarians advocate while being strongly opposed to the other 50%. To me most of the information on this site stresses local self-reliance within the context of a government that protects the people and provides oversight.

http://www.newrules.org/index.htm

New Rules is a project of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance

Obama and "New World Order"

As far as I know, Obama has no part of this. And the precise name for it is "Project for the New American Century" (PNAC)

It was founded by neoconservatives William Kristol and Robert Kagan in 1997 "to promote American global leadership."

Fundamental to the PNAC are the views that "American leadership is both good for America and good for the world" and support for "a Reaganite policy of military strength and moral clarity." What's good for American corporation is great for the world.

This bunch of neoconservative nuts shaped the disasterous foreign policy of the Bush Administration.

Obama is in direct opposition to these fruitcakes. Remember, he is the one who warned against invading Iraq without the "smoking gun" in hand.

Hope and Loss in Florida

I stopped by the Orlando for Obama HQ on Saturday and saw a bustling voter registration push. The Obama HQ already had a purpose, a sense of dedication and activity that HQ's seldom achieve until after the national convention, if at all. There was also a life sized, cardboard cutout of Senator Obama, a bitter reminder of a primary campaign where cardboard had to substitute for flesh and blood.

On Sunday, I received a gracious e-mail from Jesse the organizer of "Greater Orlando's Team Hillary" which included the following paragraph:

"Many of you have asked about plans beyond June in the event that Senator Clinton fails to secure the nomination. The simple answer is that there will be a transition period at that time to prepare our group to play a role in the election of the Democratic nominee. Not everyone will choose to make that transition with us. I mourn their loss, but respect what must be a very difficult decision for them. Each of us must act according to our consciences. Those of us who remain will take aim at John McCain as we rally under the banner of the Democratic Party."

On Sunday evening I saw the Robin Williams movie "Awakening" on TV. On one level it is "just words," but I took a walk downtown. On the way I saw Harvey. Harvey saw me try to avoid eye contact and said, "it's not about money." It almost always is; Harvey is homeless. I told Harvey about the movie, he told me about Vietnam (Harvey is a Vietnam vet). A couple walked by with a Subway sub in a plastic bag. I asked "Is Subway still doing two for one on Sundays?." She replied, "no, but they have the $5 footlong." Harvey guessed what I was up to, and I bought us each a $5 footlong. Inside Subway was Jerome, who slumped asleep over a large pencil drawing. As Jerome woke he showed me three impressive drawings. Cole seems to be homeless too, but he works for the vendor with the hotdog cart. We discussed our modest hopes for President Obama. While we were there "Magic" walked in with a guitar on his back. Magic had a hat on with cards in the brim and is probably homeless as well. As darkness fell, it wasn't quite an Edward Hopper picture, but there were some guys in a brightly lit eatery in a darkened city.

On a May weekend in 2008, a handful of people in Orlando were inspired by "just words" to be a little better than they might otherwise be.

On Monday, I will do a little day-trading, send out a few more resumes, prepare to attend attend DFA training next weekend. But, I can report that among those most discouraged there is a ray of hope, that America will change for the better under President Obama.
They Don't Want Him Vetted . They Want Him Dead !

(Note: The video examples are located in the links. Just click on the underlined words)

Rival supporters who keep saying that Obama isn't vetted enough are not looking for him to be vetted. They want him to die inside like Bill Clinton died in the 1990's. If you don't believe me that Bill Clinton died inside , take a look at this video. This is what Clinton supporters want to happen to Barack Obama. They want that HOPE that's in him to die and he refuses to let it die.

They want him to walk around slumped over and broken. But he just refuses to die inside. It makes them angry that he won't give in and give up. How dare him. How dare him not go off in a corner and sulk. How dare him mock those who are attacking him. How dare him not whine about a "Right-Wing Conspiracy" out to get him. He's just going on and on and on and won't stop. What an arrogant snob he is for not letting this process kill him inside.

From 68 to '08--The Power of the Dream

In all the excitement of an election year, let us not forget to thank George Bush for his greatest gift to the American people and the world.

I can't remember a time since the 1960's when so many for so long not part of the active political life of this country became so hopeful, so alive, and so committed to renewing our public life. But with memories come warnings: In 1968 Nixon handed us a similar gift, but we dropped it. The Democratic primaries in 1967-68 were homicidal, the party suicidal. Thus, we gave the much-despised Nixon the White House for two terms, and to the world we gave a criminal.

I was among the thousands gassed, beaten, and arrested in 1968 during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. I faced 13 years of prison on phony charges. At my arraignment, the only questions the judge asked me were these: "Are you against the war in Vietnam? Do you support Eugene McCarthy?" I was 20, and I was scared. I looked around the court room. It was filled with hundreds of us arrested the night before, kids and a few grandmothers from all over America. All scared, all facing prison, yet every one defiant. I swallowed hard and prepared myself for prison as I said. . . .

Is the Democratic Party the ONLY Hope for Black People?

Here we go again. Historically, Black people have sought to work inside, and also chosen to work 'outside' of the two party system. NAACP, Marcus Garvey's UNIA, Noble Drew Ali's Moorish Science Temple, Nation of Islam, Rastafari Movement, African Blood Brotherhood, Pan African Congress, SCLC, SNCC, Lowndes County Freedom Organization, Black Panther Party, RAM, African People's Party, Congress of African People, Black United Front, AAPRP, African People's Socialist Party, National Black Independent Political Party, National Black Convention, National African Youth Student Alliance, Ausar Auset Society, US Organization, SEMAA Institute, many of these organizations that presently continue to exist contain millions of Black people who operate outside of the Democratic party and have little faith that even a potential Obama presidency will resolve the issues of Reparations, Black Political Prisoners, racial profiling, 'white supremacy', and a myriad of social issues that are not part of the DP platform and are not being addressed by any of the major presidential candidates. There remains a large Black cultural and revolutionary nationalist community in America, including the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, the remnants of the Black Liberation Army, Republic of New Africa, and these same groups gave rise to Hip Hop Culture (see Universal Zulu Nation), Tupac Shakur, Sistah Souljah, Chuck D and Public Enemy and a generation of Black youth who have Hope in Barack Obama, but this should not be taken as Hope or Faith in the DP. There are a well known group of African-centered scholars who are held in high esteem in the Black community and social networking sites such as My Space and You Tube have a large base of Black acivists outside of the mainstream and these numbers increase daily. As many still state from the words of Gil Scott Heron, "The Revolution Won't Be Televised". It is now interactive media closing the gap and what you don't see may be closer to a reality than the 'fairy tale' some would easily dismiss as political inactivism.

My worst fear...in poll form, Yay!

The question was asked of people leaving the polls. The answers are first the total, and then broken up by candidate supported.

It is from http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/epolls/#TXDEM

This just represents Texas, but it makes me nervous anyway.

Satisfied if Clinton Wins Nomination? Clinton Obama
Yes (70%) 66% 33%
No (28%) 10% 89%

Would You Be Satisfied... Clinton Obama Only if Clinton Wins (28%) 97% 3%
Only if Obama Wins (24%) 2% 97%
If Either Wins (42%) 46% 53%
Dissat. With Both (4%) N/A N/A

Satisfied if Obama Wins Nomination? Clinton Obama
Yes (66%) 30% 69%
No (32%) 91% 8%

What this means is that people think that the world will be saved if X gets nomination. WAKE UP AMERICA! We have to save ourselves, we can't expect either one of the candidates to be the change we want to see without us just being satisfied. Sure getting people who can help us into office is part of the plan, but it is NOT the whole plan. Get to work. Become a neighborhood leader, or sign up a friend, ASAP.

The good new is that JUST 43% of Texans would be satisfied if either wins the nomination, and then we get to add back on the candidate who won. That would be a good base to start with in August I hope. Then we can earn back those voters who were disappointed by the primary. I'm also proud to see, once again, that nearly twice as many democrats as republicans came out to caucus or vote. Even in states like Texas, democrats are rocking the vote (in some states it is called Baracking the vote.

I know I'm preaching to the wrong crowd here at DNC.org, but hey. At least those who will read this care. I do repost it on myspace and facebook too ;)

Peace, Hope, Inspiration

All this vitriol on the PartyBuilder blog is getting me depressed. I know I can't be the only one.

Yes, I voted for Barack Obama, and I support his candidacy. No, I'm not stupid for doing so.

Yes, I voted for Barack because when he spoke against this invasion he stood my me and the millions of other Americans who knew this war was wrong. No, I'm not believing in a fairytale.

Yes, voted for Barack Obama because he has the ability to rally the American People to set aside our differences and see our common purpose. No, I am not a cultist, and I am not drinking kool-aide for doing so.

Yes, I voted for Barack Obama because he will speak with our enemies and negotiate peace instead of unilateral invasion. No, I am not naive for believing we can work out our differences.

Yes, I voted for Barack Obama because his health plan makes real reforms in the Health insurance industry. No, I am not opposed to universal healthcare.

Yes, I voted for Barack Obama because I can't wait to see him kick John McCain's butt in the general election! No, I do not believe its a republican conspiracy to get him nominated.

Yes, I am inspired, and yes I have hope. But I am also bruised and battered from the constant barrage of negativity, calling him anti-semitic, racist, full of hate. I have been called stupid. I have been called a cultist. I have been called hateful. I have been called a racist, even a republican troll - and all manner of funny names.

I will not let these things bring me down. I will not let negativity win.

I am a voter just like anyone else, and my hope is real.

Never underestimate the power of inspiration and hope.

These are two things we need a lot of in our country right now.

We certainly need a dose of it here on Partybuilder.

Peace and Blessings, and may we all come together around the nominee whomever they may be.
Hope and Change for our future

I recently saw this bit of information about Smear Campaigns.

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/obamas_creative_clippings_part_deux.html

The link says it best but here is a brief piece of the information.

-----------
The ad may be new, but we've seen this tactic, from this candidate, before.

Summary
The Obama campaign's new ad uses an old trick and takes quotes from newspapers out of context.

Once again, the campaign uses a quote from a news story to say Obama's health plan would offer universal coverage. But the full article points out that his plan "does not guarantee" full coverage.

----------------------
The part that gets to me, is "we've seen this tactic before"

Obama is the leading proponent of change and government reform. He is the candidate of hope. During speeches he implies that he is above petty name calling and smear campaigns, he implies he is a man of truth and integrity. I want to believe him, I really do. My heart wants me to vote for him.

I watch rallies and I listen to his supporters talk to me about why he is the best man for the job. I watch his debates and I have read the policies on his website. I see people flock around him and chant his name and gather in large masses to get the word out. I hear the Obama love, but I don't hear the "word." I see his smile but I don't read his commitment. I can understand the need for hope, but I don't understand how he gives it to me.

He doesn't have my trust, and the above mentioned article is only one of many reasons. I wish his supporters could tell me what makes him trustworthy, but sadly they just tell me he is "hope" and he is "love." This isnt the 60s this is the present. We need change and we need help repairing all the damage the Bush Administration has done. I not only need a hug and a promise, I need a leader. I don't need a pat on the head, I need action.

Someone please show me how he is a man of change.

This Is Dedicated to AnneK

AnneK,

You posted a comment on one of my blogs this morning that made me think. You are right and I am glad you reminded me that I can do better than what I posted about Hillarys Campaign problems. You made me remember this post from July 07 and I want to share some of it with you and thank you for snapping me back into focus. You are right. I am better than that.

Thank you,

Dee Anna

(Click on Extended)

I AM PISSED OFF AT OBAMA, A MAN OF CHANGE "NOT"!

I am very angry at OBAMA right now. How dare he make a petition on his website to keep Michigan and Florida Delegates off the floor. You Democrats are blind sided by his lines of Hope, but he is no different. He is a politician America. He gives you no hope, he gives you miss guided muffled answers to his plans. If you pay close attention to his speeches he actually tells you it will take longer to create a health care system for Americans by the end of his first term. Humm. He also states that his plan for Carbon emissions reduction will be done by 2050, Hillary's plans are 2012. Humm. You think he is all that?

I live in Michigan, Yeah Michigan where everything is "Crap" right now. I voted in my primary for Hillary Clinton, Cause I believe in her. I know she will be for the people. I am angry right now as a voter of Michigan. I am "Pissed" off right now at Obama Man...How dare he ignore and turn a blind eye on Michiganders and Floridians. How dare he post a link in his website to make sure that Michigan Delegates and Florida Delegates are VOID...You People believe Obama is a man of "Change" You believe he is a new "Hope"...Hog wash...He is no different. He is not for the people of this country. If he was he would allow Michigan and Florida's Votes Count. "Not"...Michigan and Florida Stand Up Tell Him to Let our VOICES COUNT. Hillary Clinton is the only presidential contender who "GIVES A DAMN ABOUT MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA".

If you look at the polls, who does Obama get his support from? Rich upper class and well educated people. Hummm. Where does Hillary get her support from the "Lower MIDDLE CLASS" to "AMERICAS POOREST PEOPLE". Who is suffering in this country? Lower middle class to the poorest of people. See the reality here. Who really cares about us, "Hillary" Does...Everybody knows damn well that Obama if the shoes were turned would seek our delegates in Michigan and Florida. But he chooses to "SLAP" us in the face. Hillary said no matter what she wants our delegates to count.

I watch the media, and I have complained and complained and sent out tons of emails to voice my opinion and have gotten no where. "America" the people that are hurt most are not being given a fair and balanced chance to make our voices heard. They instead spin bull crap over and over breaking down Hillary as a no good for nothing person. What right do they think she is not a human being. Who has stuck by her husband, and raised a wonderful daughter. Who has fought for health care, who has stuck up for us poorer class of people. Who? Hillary is to be commended for long history. She wants education, she wants Congressional Health Care, for which Obama now calls his plan. Michigan Come here and voice your anger, call your senators, call the media, lets band together, and stand out side the news stations, and say "MICHIGAN MUST COUNT, MICHIGAN MUST BE SEATED, MICHIGAN VOTED, and MICHIGAN and FLORIDA MUST BE HEARD". Email Obama and Shame Him for his Lack of "Change" and tell him his "Hope" message is a bunch of CROCK. He is no Different. A politician is a politician and he is no different.

Make the right choice and let the Heart and the hand of Hillary grasp your heart and help lead her to the White House and you will see "Change".

The power of an Image

I took a course in communications in which I learned about three main learning methods: audio, visual, and kinesthetic: Hearing, Seeing, and Feeling.

My dominant learning method is visual; but I know all of them affect what I learn. I also know when I can have all of them going together I will hold onto that memory for a longer time even if it isn't repeated again and again and again.

What we are getting from Barack Obama is powerfully all three things at one time:

AUDIO: With a voice that communicates so well people remember some of the words from his speeches long afer they're over. I, for one, decided I would vote for Barack Obama for president after hearing him speak at the 2004 convention. I may have looked foolish then; but not now. He is able to persuade powerfully with sound, with his voice, with his ability to persuade and his intellect as well.

Visual. The power of the image is amazing. This is one of the reason Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.s, "I Have a Dream" speech is still present in my mind. This may not be word-for-word because I'm doing it from memory; but: "I have a dream that a little black child from Alabama and a little white child from Alabama would be able to play and live in harmony." I know that isn't exactly what he said; but that is the image I was left with.
