Profile
Location: Washington, DC (Los Angeles Originally)
My Story: Over the past decade or so I’ve had the opportunity to see most of what this country has to offer in terms of scenery traveling all over the U.S. and in some cases staying for extended periods of time. I grew up in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Westchester. I’ve lived in DC (now in the Logan Circle neighborhood) since March of 2004 and I have to say that it really does feel like home. I love my job, my friends and my neighborhood. I also enjoy being outside, road trips, skiing, hiking (ask me about the time I fell off a cliff), camping, anything at the beach or on the water, reading, going to the movies, live music, going for coffee in the middle of the week at 2 in the afternoon or just sitting at home with some friends, Netflix and some popcorn.
I’ve worked for numerous candidates and political organizations since 1996. In 2001 I was field director on then-City Attorney James Hahn’s successful first campaign for Mayor of Los Angeles. After leaving my job as deputy communications director of the California Democratic Party in 2003, I worked as multimedia communications director and member of the renowned web-team for Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign. In 2005, I worked as press secretary for Congresswoman Louise M. Slaughter (D-NY) on the House Rules Committee helping to expose Republican ethics abuses in the nation’s capital. In 2006 I served as communications director of Democrat and Iraq War veteran Paul Hackett’s brief campaign for U.S. Senate in Ohio and then as national press secretary of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. I’m now communications director for Media Matters for America, a progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.
