My Story: I started getting involved in the Democratic party in the waining days of the Kerry Campaign (August 2004 till election day). At the time, I volunteered for the campaign by helping out at phone banks in Boston, and by traveling on weekends as a Kerrytravelor to Maine, New Hampshire, and Pensylvania. After the campaign ended, I settled back into my everyday life. Then in April of 2005, I was diagnosed with Renal Cancer (cancer of the kidney), and my life changed.
I had surgery on my kidney in June of 2005, and one month later, while I was recovering from the surgery, and suffering from cabin fever, I got a phone call. The phone call was from the Massachusetts Democratic Party. They were, "desperate for volunteers." That said, and suffering from cabin fever, I got up, and took the short cab ride over to the Massachusetts Democratic Party to help them out in the mapping stages of an election that was still sixteen months away.
I worked as a volunteer sporadically for the party throuthout the summer and fall of 2005, and then in January of 2006, I got another phone call. This time it was from the Kennedy campaign (Ted Kennedy) for reelection. Once again I found myself involved in a campaign, only this time it was more regular. I helped out the Kennedy campaign, and the Democratic party this time from January of 2006 to present day (November 2006).
There is one other campaign I got involved in during the 2006 election cycle, and that was the governors race. In March of 2006, I signed up as a supporter of Deval Patrick, and in April of the same year, I was asked by the campaign to become the ward captain for my ward in Cambridge, Massachusetts for the campaign. I served in this capacity until the primary (which Deval Patrick won), and then I became the Visibility coordinator for the campaign for the City of Cambridge and Somerville.
Besides working on campaigns, I joined MDF/YDM or Massachusetts for a Democratic Future/Young Democrats of Massachusetts in March of 2006, and now serve as the Director of Membership and Outreach for the group. I am also a student at the University of Massachusetts Boston where I am in the Graduate Certificate program for Women in Politics and Public Policy. This is my story.

I am the only Democrat you will ever meet who cannot see left of center. This is because I am visually impaired, and not because I do not identify with leftist ideals.
