My Story: Born in Shirkieville, Indiana. Graduated from Indiana University in 1978 with a degree in Business Economics and received my law degree from the University of Virginia in 1981.
My wife Susan and I have twin sons, Beau and Nicholas, born in 1995. Susan is a law professor serving on several corporate boards.
I am a United States Senator from Indiana currently serving a second term. Senate Committees: Banking Housing and Urban Affairs in which I'm the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on International Trade and Finance; Armed Services; the Select Committee on Intelligence; the Special Committee on Aging; and the Small Business Committee. During my time in the Senate, I have been a leader in providing troops with much-needed armored vehicles, I called for sanctions to put real pressure on Iran, and I authored a comprehensive, bipartisan energy plan that would dramatically reduce dependence on foreign oil in 10 years. Prior to being elected to the Senate, I served two terms as Governor of Indiana Despite coming from the heavily Republican state of Indiana, I managed to outperform President Bush in the last election, winning over 63% of the vote. One of my proudest political accomplishments was the creation of the 21st Century Scholars program, which provides underprivileged students the opportunity to attend college. The 21st Century Scholars program has helped more than 100,000 Hoosier students achieve their dreams of attending college and helped move Indiana from 40th in the nation for sending students to college to ninth. I’d love to hear your opinions and views on both political and non-political issues. http://www.allamericapac.com/

"This is a time for courage and for challenge. Neither conformity nor complacency will do. Neither the fanatics nor the fainthearted are needed. Our duty as a party is not to our party alone, but to this nation and to all of mankind. Our duty is not merely the preservation of political power but the preservation of peace and of freedom. So let us not be petty when our cause is so great. Let us not argue amongst ourselves when the future of our nation is at stake. Let us stand together with renewed confidence in our cause, united in our pride of the past, and in our hopes for the future, and determine that this land we love will lead all of mankind forward to new frontiers of peace and abundance."
