Location: Long Island, NY
My Story: Born, raised, and living on Long Island. I am the fifth of six children from a middle-class family. My father is a retired electrical engineer. He now struggles with severe rhumetoid arthritis. My mom is a retired registered nurse. She is an ovarian cancer survivor. In addition to being the location of a major mall, a number of fast food franchises, at least four 7-11's, and lots of strip malls, my town is the location of at least three superfund sites being cleaned up by the EPA. In the late 1960's, half of downtown was raized to widen a state highway. My Congressional District is represented by Rep Peter T King. The county was steered into financial ruin by the once dominant GOP political machine lead by Nassau County Republican Chairman Joseph Mondello. With regards to issues, I'm focused on two issues: universal healthcare and the environment. These issues focus on both our internal and external environments. And both issues aim to ensure a good life for everyone. Amidst suburban sprawl, superfund sites, expensive healthcare, and a high cost of living on Long Island, it's time for solutions.
