My Story: Originally from Massachusetts, Texas resident for 17 years. I became a Democrat shortly after Furious George took office; before, there had been no party affiliation. But seeing everything that is best about our country being destroyed was more than I could bear, and I felt it was time to take a stand. I watched the Watergate proceedings and saw the protests against the Vietnam War, and I did not forget. I have the memory of an elephant, but the heart of a donkey. I'm a white person who supports my minority brothers and sisters; I'm a straight person who respects the GLBT community; I'm a spiritual person who wants our government freed from the right-wing, fundamentalist agenda so that all religions may be represented and thrive. I'm a female who wants my reproductive choices unfettered. I'm a human being who believes that my job is to make sure that all human beings are treated equally and have the same opportunities. I support a sound economy and good business practices, but despise large corporations that control the government, export our jobs, and diminish the rights of the American worker. I am for good diplomacy and sound foreign policy. I am for clean elections and accountability. I am for affordable health care for all. I am for freedom of speech. I am against wars designed for the economic gain of the elite. I am against using the military for anything other than defense, and believe in caring for our military through proper pay and medical care. I oppose illegal spying, illegal wars, illegal detainment and illegal torture. I am against the corporate media, which has failed to keep their position as the Fourth Estate, has failed in their critical role as watchdog, and has betrayed the American people for profit. I'm a patriot who loves my country.
