My Story: I am a 29yr old, Mescalero Apache female. I was born and raised in a country that has continuously broken its agreements with the people. The majority of the people in this country are suffering from the lack of basic necessities which are the right of everyone not just the rich. I continue to go without medical care of any sort, no dental care, no vision care, I make 1200 a mo to support three people in the nw. I believe this country can be the country is was dreamed of being, but that can't happen while there are those who still suffer. All people are equal and have an equal right to the basic necessities of life. I have been trying to trace my heritage and have had no luck as people seem hesitant to talk. This has become a prevailing factor as our government has created an atmosphere where people have become afraid to speak to one another or to denounce the injustices and wrongs within our own goevernment. This is country of the people, and should be for the people, by the people as it was always intended to be.
