My Story: I am a progressive Green Democrat and a supporter of the campaign of Barack Obama because he is fighting for the things on which the future of democracy in this country and all over the world depend: Obama is fighting for a fundamental change in the way politics and government work in this country, to make sure the powers of good government are placed back in the hands of the people for the sake of preserving government by the people (instead of by the rich and the lobbyists). If government is corrupt and loses the faith of the people, as it has in this country, democracy fails. And if democracy fails, we all will fail to be able to address the fundamental problems of poverty, global climate change, the energy crisis, and an ever-increasing level of war and violence around the globe. We need a fundamental shift in our way of thinking about, and practicing politics, and Obama represents this new democratic vision and energy. How much longer will we have to wait for this change to begin?
