My Story: I am a 59 year-old certified public accountant living in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Northern California with my husband Ray. We work together in my tax practice in Jackson. I am a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. I grew up in the 1960's. I was barely 14 when John Kennedy was assassinated in November 1963. My heart was broken as I watched television for three solid days, crying with my family. Our family discussed politics around the dining room table every evening - arguing about the Viet Nam war, civil rights, the economy and Berkeley hippies. I remember the fierce love we felt for one another; the patriotic bond that made us proud to volunteer to help with campaigns - even as children! My father was a disabled World War II Navy veteran and my bachelor twin uncles served in the 3rd Marine Division in World War II. They saw a lot of action, and Uncle Mack was wounded at the Battle of Guam. Uncle Mike received a medal for bravery in battle at Iwo Jima. Needless to say, my family is patriotic and proud. We serve. We love our country in more ways than one. I have been waiting all my life for someone like Barack Obama. I have been waiting for a hero - a person who can inspire a nation to have hope that we can move beyond the horrors that have fallen upon us in recent times. I have literally been praying that a leader would rise up and demonstrate the qualities we crave in this nation and the world to preserve not only the peace so desperately needed for the future, but the environment of our very Earth. I believe we have found that leader. That leader is Barack Obama. I want to help.
