Requested $4.2 million dollars in a grant from the Housing and Urban and Development (HUD) to construct 62-units of Elderly Housing, I was the author of the grant. The project was recommended for funding. Wrote a grant to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Moines requesting 500,000 for housing rehab for homeowners. Performed the planning study, interviewed over 100 homeowners for eligibility. The City of Kansas City, Missouri matched the grant for $1,000,000. I received the grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.
Served as staff support and resource person for City Committees, study groups and task forces; attended seminars and conferences; dispensed and interpreted information to general public upon request. Reviewed and analyzed laws and regulations applicable to the program assignment; interfaced with city, state, and federal governing bodies to ensured proper interpretation of administrative laws and regulations; developed procedures and methods for local implementation of programs and services; recommended program standards, goals and policies; analyzed existing management and operating procedures and developed methods for improvement of program operations; and provided technical assistance or program guidance to appropriate superior program operating officials.

Involved attention to a broad range of responsibilities, including leadership, planning, marketing, public relations, counseling, research, finance, grant writing, staffing of organizations, team building, problem solving, and technical assistance on new single family housing, multi-family housing, business development in Kansas City. The purpose and goal of this opportunity was to bring the four community development corporations together to work as a team and plan projects together. They agreed to that, but they did not agree to pool finances. My goal was accomplished.

VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY AFFILIATIONS
Appointed to be a speaker at the Glass Ceiling Commission Hearing, held in Kansas. Sponsored by Senator Bob Dole. About 30 women testified before United States Secretary of Labor, Lynn Martin. My Testimony improved the careers of many women and minorities including my position in the Kansas City community.
Appointed to a National Committee, the Empowerment Zone, it was an Executive Committee by all of the Community Development Corporations in Kansas City, Missouri and the National Equity Fund Local Initiative Support Corporation, an intermediary for over 900 Corporations and Foundations. The primary focus was job creation, fund raising, and community and economic development for all of Kansas City, Missouri.
