My Story: After being raised in a traditional Republican household in the suburbs of Chicago, I headed out to D.C. for my University education. Upon graduation I moved to New York City in July of 2000 to begin my adult life. After having been exposed to so many new people and backgrounds over several years, I realized that the world is not as black and white (ESPECIALLY not as white) as I had always been taught. I have always disliked the idea of political parties, but once GW and his crew moved in to the white house it was clear that there needed to be an organization I could be a part of, if only in my votes, to try and halt the swing to the right. I found this organization in the Democratic Party. This will be the first election in which I am voting as a registered member of any party (though I have voted in every election for which I have been eligible), and I am looking forward to being a part of our nation's recovery.
