My Story: I was born 100 yards from the very home in which I type this, in Fairfax, Virginia. I've lived here in the shadow of the District of Columbia for all of my 19 years. One of my most distinct memories of my early school career was in the sixth grade, when I watched live on CNN the final vote for conviction come down for President Bill Clinton. As we all know, that heinous effort failed. What stood out to me, was that while President Clinton remained in office, my generation was sucker-punched by partisanship, at the tender age of 11. Allow me to explain. When the television came on, the classroom separated into two sides. The vast majority of students were cheering for the Republicans, hoping that this day they would see a President fall. I sat with a mere five students, out of a thirty student class, which I feel the need to mention was a Gifted and Talented class. Looking back on that day, even through the fog of time I see the seeds of radical right-wing deception bearing their fruit among the youth. After I turned 18, just over one year ago, I decided that I would not want to live in a country where politics is not a tool to better the lives of citizens, but a business to fatten the egos and wallets of a cynical few. Thankfully, I live in the United States of America, and I'm not going to let that be the case.
