Christian Democrats

About Christian Dems: This is a group dedicated to bringing to the world the message of the difference between right-wing "religion" and the love of God that Christ himself taught. The basic issues the democratic party and most of its candidates stand for epitomize the more important values and core of Christianity much more than the prideful "morality" of the right-wing agenda. The values in question being love for your neighbor, kindness, looking out for the poor and needy, etc. We are not a radical liberal group, but in balance, as the Word of God says to do "everything in moderation." We want to be imitators of Jesus, so look at how He handled the Pharisees (I believe the religious-right and "moral authority" are indeed the modern-day Pharisees) and the hypocrites in Matthew 23. We believe that as Christians and Americans we must have and show forth Godly character in how we talk and treat others...and that yes, sin is sin and it is wrong and against God (we do not compromise on the fact that what The Bible says is sin, is sin), but again, look at how Jesus handled the sinner--he dined with them, loved them, and showed them through his character that there was indeed salvation and a new life, a hope. Believing that through political policy we can control and obliterate sin is unrealistic and in some cases, anti-"American." This is, after all the "land of the free" and people have the freedom here to sin and mess up their lives if they wish...and if they think judgment is all there is in Christianity they will not see the hope and New Life we have to offer. Our other major goal is to educate the American public and help the Democratic party win the votes so they can get things back in order across the world and in our land. I, for one, am sick of: * being SICK and not having insurance or the ability to see a doctor or get the necessary prescriptions I need in order to live healthily * having friends who cannot find jobs because they have all been shipped overseas * seeing how my country is hated and feared throughout the world more and more everyday * seeing environmental damage that is continuing at an alarming rate when there are very possible solutions that would help us and the earth and STOP helping the pocket-books of the Republicans who are making so much $$ over oil and the like * seeing such an increase in racism and hate for illegal immigrants and even the legal ones, and lack of tolerance * seeing our children's education suffer because teachers aren't paid anything and the schools have no resources and college students (like myself!) having to go into debt and bankrupcy so they can get an education in order to get good jobs and survive!
