Take Back Your Country

I've set a personal goal to secure the ongoing resources the Party needs each month, and I'm trying to get there with Democracy Bonds. By getting your Democracy Bond, you're making a commitment to make a monthly contribution the Democratic Party in order to:

• Reform the political process by building a political party beholden only to the people, not the special interests
• Build the Democratic Party from the ground up in every precinct so that we can compete everywhere
• Win elections in every state and territory of the United States, at every level of office

"Democracy Bonds" are about building a community of Americans with a stake in our common future -- locally, nationally, and globally. They will bond together a person in Alaska and a person in Missouri in common cause for a political process where parties are accountable to ordinary people and their concerns.

You can only buy one bond. You can decide to commit more money per month, depending on what you can afford, but the principle is democratic with a small-d -- one person, one bond. Every person can be a stakeholder in our party.

Governor Howard Dean launched the "Democracy Bonds" program (and bought the first one himself to signify his commitment) because he believes that we can take our country back -- precinct by precinct, block by block, with every Democrat taking responsibility for getting their family, friends and neighbors involved.

The Republicans raise $10 million every month from corporate interests and lobbyists. The Democratic Party will never be able to compete in the traditional ways with a party that has abandoned the people and taken selling access and influence to a new level.

But we can do it if half a million people are giving $20 a month to change the way our political process works.
