Pass the Fair Minimum Wage Act

It's been ten years since Congress last voted to raise the minimum wage. Democrats are leading the way on making this simple, humane change that will affect millions of Americans.

The minimum wage has not changed in nearly ten years. While people on the minimum wage have had their incomes remain the same, salaries of lawmakers have gone up by $31,600 -- almost three times the entire yearly income of someone on minimum wage.

The world's most rich and powerful country must do better.

Raising the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour would mean an additional $4,370 for a minimum-wage worker. That adds up to more than one year of groceries, over 9 months of rent, a year and a half of heat and electricity, or full tuition for a community college degree.

Stand up and support the efforts by Senate Democrats to pass Senator Kennedy's Fair Minimum Wage Act. They need your help to make this effort a success. Senator Kennedy’s bill can pass, but only if people across the nation show they want change.

I support the Fair Minimum Wage Act. This simple change will help millions of working Americans achieve the standard of living they deserve.
