Under President Bush’s failed policies, minority income remains less than 60 percent that of whites. The decline in family income is a direct result of falling wages – Republicans had refused to allow this wage hike that would help 7 million low paid workers unless it is tied to a huge tax giveaway for 7,500 multi-millionaires. Now that Democrats control Congress, they voted to raise the minimum wage. Tell President Bush to sign this vital legislation.
Dear President Bush,
Minimum wage is now at its lowest level in 50 years, making it nearly impossible for workers to pay for basic necessities. Minority income remains less than 60 percent that of whites, largely because the minimum wage has not been raised in ten years. Partisan shenanigans that tied the urgent need for an increase to huge tax breaks for multi-millionaires were unthinkable. I urge you to sign legislation on raising the minimum wage, and help thousands of American families on their way toward achieving the American Dream.
Sincerely,
