DNC Deputy Communications Director Sabrina Singh released the following statement following reports that one of Kentucky’s largest health insurers plans to raise premium rates in the individual market by 19.4% in 2019:

“Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress should be ashamed that their partisan-fueled attacks on the American health care system are once again threatening to make it harder for Kentucky families to access the quality care they deserve. Time and time again, Trump and Republicans have sabotaged American health care for their own political gain, and now, Kentucky families are facing the prospect of double-digit premium rate hikes thanks to their actions.

“While Trump and the GOP give tax breaks away to the top 1% and try to undermine the Affordable Care Act, Democrats will continue to work to make health care accessible to every family. Quality, affordable health care should be a right for all Americans, not a privilege for the wealthy few, and Kentucky voters will hold Republicans accountable this November.”
