Kavanaugh’s Own Clerks Say He Will Threaten Women’s Health And Americans’ Health Care

This weekend Trump continued to lie to try to defend his Supreme Court nominee, Judge Kavanaugh.  Even Kavanaugh’s own clerks say he would threaten women’s health and would overturn the Affordable Care Act.

Trump said there could be a vote to overturn Roe v. Wade and falsely claimed the issue was a “50/50 question.” The truth is that the vast majority of Americans oppose overturning Roe v. Wade.

Newsweek: “President Donald Trump said in an interview published Saturday that there could one day be a ‘vote’ on whether abortion would remain legal in the United States, while falsely claiming that the issue was a ‘50/50 question in this country.’”

Kaiser Family Foundation: “As President Trump prepares to make a new Supreme Court nomination, new polling from the Kaiser Family Foundation finds that two-thirds (67%) of the public do not want the Supreme Court to overturn the 1973 landmark Roe v. Wade decision that established women’s constitutional right to abortion.”

Kavanaugh's own clerks say he would strongly enforce restrictions on abortion and views the Affordable Care Act as unconstitutional.

Reuters: “Comments by former clerks may backfire on Trump's high court pick”

Sara Pitayk: “On the vital issues of protecting religious liberty and enforcing restrictions on abortion, no court-of-appeals judge in the nation has a stronger, more consistent record than Judge Brett Kavanaugh. On these issues, as on so many others, he has fought for his principles and stood firm against pressure. He would do the same on the Supreme Court.”

Justin Walker:  “Kavanaugh’s thorough and principled takedown of the mandate was indeed a roadmap for the Supreme Court—the Supreme Court dissenters, justices Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito, who explained that the mandate violated the Constitution. I am very familiar with that opinion, because I served as Kennedy’s law clerk that term. I can tell you with certainty that the only justices following a roadmap from Brett Kavanaugh were the ones who said Obamacare was unconstitutional.”
