THE LATEST: Record Number of Americans Support Immigration, As Trump’s Family Separation Crisis Cont

Trump’s latest executive order is another example of his anti-immigrant and cruel policies. Despite trying to claim credit for ending it, the family separation crisis he created continues. Here’s the latest:

A new poll shows that a record-high 75% of Americans say immigration is a good thing.

ABC News: “Three-quarters of Americans say immigration is a good thing, according to a Gallup poll released today. The number — 75 percent — is a ‘record-high’ and includes majorities from all party groups, according to Gallup.”

Democrats are asking for answers after allegations of abuse of immigrant children held in detention facilities.

USA Today: “Virginia’s two Democratic senators asked the Trump administration Friday for answers about operations at a juvenile detention facility in the state where immigrant children said they were bound, beaten and isolated in solitary confinement.”

The Trump administration is preparing to shelter as many as 20,000 immigrant children on military bases.

New York Times: “The United States is preparing to shelter as many as 20,000 migrant children on four American military bases, a Pentagon spokesman said on Thursday, as federal officials struggled to carry out President Trump’s order to keep immigrant families together after they are apprehended at the border.”

Trump dismissed the heart-wrenching tragedies of families forcibly separated by his policy as “phony stories of sadness and grief,” and discouraged Congress from addressing the crisis he created.

The Guardian: “Trump attacks 'phony stories of sadness and grief' in separation crisis.”

The Hill: “President Trump on Friday told Republican lawmakers to ‘stop wasting their time’ on immigration legislation, even as the House grapples to reach a compromise.”
