Trump Abandons Harley-Davidson Workers in Kansas City

Time and again Trump has promised to save the jobs of American workers and told businesses they will expand because of him. But when the cameras turn off, the plants shut down and workers lose their jobs, and Trump is nowhere to be found.

THEN: Trump met with Harley-Davidson execs and told them that their business was going to expand because of him.

Trump: “And I think you’re going to even expand — I know your business is now doing very well and there’s a lot of spirit right now in the country that you weren’t having so much in the last number of months that you have right now. You see what’s happening.”

NOW: Harley-Davidson plans to close its Kansas City assembly plant and lay off about 800 workers.

Kansas City Star: “About 800 workers will lose their jobs when Harley-Davidson Inc. closes its Kansas City motorcycle assembly plant in the fall of 2019. Tuesday’s announcement to investors was a complete surprise to employees, three fourths of whom are represented by one of two unions.”
