DATA ACQUISITION ASSOCIATE

The Democratic National Committee is currently seeking a dependable, highly motivated, well-organized individual to serve as a Data Acquisition Associate. This person will be an active member of the National Data Team at the DNC, and will work closely with Presidential Campaign, other national Democratic Committees, State Parties and Coordinated Campaigns to equip them with the data needed to win elections.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the voterfile and data acquisitions process for the DNC Data team and coordinating with State Parties and campaigns
  • Work with State Secretary of State offices to acquire county files, state voterfiles, election vote history data, redistricting data, etc.
  • Be a liaison between the voterfile Team and State Parties to investigate and solve issues with voterfile updates campaign data systems
  • Train State Party staff on the available DNC Technology tools and the acquisition process
  • Run Release Notes reports after every file update and distribute to State Parties accordingly
  • Assist other Data Services Managers with Training Programs on VoteBuilder, Analytics, DNC Technology tools
About you:

You are committed to progressive causes and electing Democrats. You have 1 or 2 years of practical experience working with campaign data or in a technology field with a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent. You have experience with and enjoy working on a team in a fast-pace environment. You also have:

  • Experience as a VAN or VoteBuilder Administrator
  • Campaign work experience at a Non-Profit or Local/State Campaign in field, data or digital
  • Attention to detail and the ability to keep track of different moving parts
  • Basic understanding and use of SQL
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Description

We are looking for a graphic designer with strong typography skills to help maintain the Democratic National Committee's brand message through all visual communications online and offline.

The ideal candidate has a passion for design, has their eye on the latest web trends, and can demonstrate basic coding skills. Candidates should be able to design within an established brand identity system, while pushing the direction forward. Daily projects would include social media graphics, printed materials for events and press, photograph selection and collaborating with lead designer on larger web projects and campaigns.

You'll work daily to engage millions of Americans to support President Obama, our Democratic nominee, and Democrats across the country, and coordinate with senior leadership to shape our brand.

Responsibilities:

In this job, you'll work daily to engage millions of Americans to support President Obama and Democrats across the country. REGIONAL DATA SERVICES MANAGER

Big Picture Responsibilities:

The Regional Data Services Managers are part of the Democratic National Committee’s National Data Services Team. The Regional Data Services Managers focus on delivering services to users around the country. They work closely with the DNC, other national Democratic Committees, State Parties and Campaigns on utilizing data and technology to effect Democratic change.

Responsibilities:
  • Solve technical and programmatic support requests about the VoteBuilder data system and programmatic use of data. Support will include system administration, applications of technology, political data and acquisition of data, and managing voter contact, digital, and other political programs
  • Provide ongoing training for new and veteran VoteBuilder data manager and state party technology tool administrators in areas such Excel, SQL, voter targeting, data analytics, and other campaign technology related skills
  • Manage vendor relationships and development of state party tools, including VoteBuilder and other software
About You:

You have at least 4 years of data management experience in an electoral or issue campaign context, preferably using a VAN database system. You have demonstrated success in completing data management projects on time while handling multiple other tasks. You have experience training users on technical topics and supporting both technical and non-technical users. You have experience with and enjoy working on a team in a fast-pace environment. You may also have:

  • Prior experience administering a state or national instance of VAN
  • Local and state electoral campaign experience in a role such as data manager, field director, digital director, campaign manager or similar, or
  • Basic understanding of data management using Excel and SQL databases

SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Description

Software Engineers build tools for the DNC both internally and for Democratic campaigns across the country. The last few years have seen incredible advances in campaign technology, and Software Engineers will help Democrats leverage these advances, while laying the groundwork for what comes next.

This position reports to the Director of Engineering and will work closely with members of the Technology Department as a member of a team of engineers developing applications and back-end systems for both the DNC and Democratic campaigns and committees.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop applications to help Democratic campaigns reach the electorate, raise money and turn out voters
  • Commit clean, readable, well-documented code and hustle to fix things when they break
  • Work in all layers of the application stack, from database to application code to user interfaces, across languages and technologies to design seamless experiences
  • Work across our technology department and with non-technical stakeholders to develop products and deliver them on schedule
About You:

You should have experience solving complex technical problems at all levels of the application stack. You want to help Democrats be faster and better at their jobs by decreasing friction for users across our applications. You probably also have:

  • Expertise manipulating huge amounts of data, working with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience writing Ruby on Rails and/or Python and parsing new languages and specifications
  • Excitement about working in a highly collaborative team that works under an agile framework

Trackers are our eyes and ears, instrumental in the work we do to hold Republicans accountable for their statements and proposals. They are on the ground, attending the Republican events documenting and monitoring the opposition while staying in close contact with the research team in DC. In this position, the Tracker will:

Responsibilities
  • Monitor in-state schedules for Republican presidential hopefuls and major surrogates in cooperation with DC Research staff
  • Attend all public events where possible presidential candidates and major surrogates appear and videotape their remarks
  • Immediately flag news-worthy remarks or happenings from the event and quickly transmit the footage to the DC Research office
  • Assist in transcriptions and additional on the ground research needs as requested
Requirements
  • A reliable vehicle, car insurance and valid driver’s license

The Data Analyst will work closely with other members of the DNC Data Services Department in providing critical voter file data to Democratic campaigns across the country.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Process incoming voter lists, election history and other data sets in to the DNC National Voter File, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of the process
  • Work with the Voter File team to maintain and improve the file update process
  • Run ad-hoc analysis to investigate problems or answer questions about the National Voter File
  • Collaborate with others in the Data Services team to meet the data needs of Democratic Campaigns and Committees
  • Coordinate the collection and aggregation of voter file and elections data from elections officials and campaigns
ABOUT YOU:

You are committed to progressive causes and electing Democrats. You have 2 or more years of practical experience working with campaign data or in a technology field with a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent. You have experience with and enjoy working on a team in a fast-pace environment. You have experience working with SQL relational databases and an understanding of basic ETL concepts.

You may also have:

  • Experience loading, manipulating and processing large data files (especially voter files or similar data)
  • Familiarity with basic data warehousing
  • Some experience programming in languages such as Python, Ruby, PHP or Java
